Do you remember your first impressions of some forum members here? What were they? I thought it would be fun to take a trip down Memory Lane.  :)

Homer: I don't think I "met" you until fairly recently - the last year or so? My first impression was that you're such a nice person. My impression was correct. You're so sweet. I also get the feeling you're care-free, docile, no drama, nothing ever bothers you. I bet you've never gotten into an argument with someone, including your wife.  :)

I met IHO going on 5 years ago. My first impression was that he was super detail-oriented. A little OCD. Smart as a whip. Those impressions are still true for me, but I've also learned he's a very, very good guy on top of that who always means well (even when he's wrong, which he can rarely admit to being), and is funny, too.

Who wants to be my next victim??  :P

Sorry, everyone!! I didn't realize there were replies until now!

Let me get caught up / collect my thoughts...  :)

Even though we never met in person, I am game.

OoooOOO! I first "met" you during an election year!... in 2008! There was a tight group of liberals on the forum at that time. I know you know what I'm talking about. Everyone was really going at it. The tension was running high! That didn't stop you from jumping in... like an ice cube, throwing itself into a pot of boiling water. I remember being really surprised at how brave you were. I found it completely REFRESHING! I've used that exact word to describe you on more than a few occasions since then. I admired your hard-to-come-by-wisdom and courage then and now.

You were as I expected, straight out of a magazine catalog for Cold Water Creek ;-)
Yes, make me your victim :P

Cold Water Creek! LOL!! I wish.

You seemed to me like a super-human who has it all together. The kind I am so different from and a bit intimated by. You were the: Architect, author, poet, environmentalist, blogger, mom, wife, day trader, "more powerful than a locomotive... able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." Superman! It seemed like there is nothing you didn't or couldn't do.

Then I met you in person and learned it's all true. Except, you also turned out to be one of the sweetest, most loving people ever and very down to earth - which totally took the edge off the intimidation factor for me.  :)

Thank you SoCal.  I remember that period in time well - more so because what appeared to be a case of mass hypnosis going on than anything else.  I'm still amazed at how many people bought into such a simplistic message as "hope and change".  I remember arguing with quite a few people that not all changes are good changes.  This is one of those occasions that I wish I was wrong.

Ahhh the good old days of IHB.  I remember that thinking some of the people on the forum would be a lot more intimidating but after I met them I realized they weren't intimidating at all.  I always thought of SoCal as the mom of the forum keeping the boys from playing too rough with each other.

That is the best note to begin my morning with :-) Thank you SoCal- even though you are being extremely generous, I will take that ;-)

Ah. I see. So, it's a combo of a Coldwater Creek citizen & everybody's mother. Awesome.Well, I am an all-boy mom in real life and therefore best suited to the role of Den Mother, but, hopefully you don't still get the feeling you're being "watched". Now, come over here so I can lick my fingers and lay your cowlick down.
