I'm currently watching Channel 4 and it looks pretty bad out there. Stay safe everyone!

I've been following the news on KCAL9, the Yorba Linda fire looks really bad, the fire line was coming to the neighborhood, several blocks large, like a fire wave about to crash, and it was very clear that firefighters won't be able to do anything, then a very large dark cloud covered the camera, and now I can see several homes burning at the same time, inevitable.

There's an abandoned Honda dealership with decorative palm trees on fire!

As temperature drops later today, Santa Ana winds are going to pick up speed, this is a very well known fact, things will be out of control!

The Yorba Linda fire is in the intersection of the 241 and 91.

I was watching fox 11 and they said there was no water pressure in Yorba Linda and the firefighters could do nothing but watch the homes burn. It's pretty sad watching homes go up in smoke.

I've been trying to follow the news on

KCAL9 too, but keep getting distracted.

Is there a fire somewhere?

I know. :( Btw, what does the insurance do if the value of the home is less than the mortgage of a house than burns down?

You are covered for replacement value, check your policies. You'll have to cover the difference if there is any. The land isn't covered since it can't be destroyed. Most people end up having to cover a lot of costs, my aunt's house burned down last year and they will be moving in to the new house next month, over a year after the fires.

I'm worried that this thing could spread down Lomas Ridge. I am in Portola Springs, butted right up against the range. We are going to group some of our belongings together near the front door tonight just in case things spread while we're sleeping.

Could see the flames in the distance from Quail Hill after dark, seems to have subsided, at least as far as I can see from here.

Irvine is safe, stuff like thing doesn't happen here...

...Right?

Driving along 133 to Laguna Beach today, if the fire gets there, here is no way to stop it.

Now is in Anaheim Hills, the fire jumped the 91 freeway, I've been in "Aww" since it started in Yorba linda, it's coming down to the Tustin/Irvine area, I read in the OCR that the Irvine Park is now a command center, hmmm, why?

I WAS SCARY!

I just happened to drive though when the fires were jumping from side of the highway to the other. It was bad.

I just managed to get through before the shut the highway down.

My BFF left Irvine to Brea for a dinner party. She left at 5pm, she just called and said she's not there yet! She took the local streets.

I heard on the news that the winds are blowing west... so hopefully that should keep it from traveling down (unless the winds change direction?)

I left Tustin at 4pm today to go to Hacienda Heights. They shut down the 57 north a little past Imperial Hwy. I had to take local roads, and all of the main streets (Imperial, Harbor, Brea, etc) were like parking lots.

I got to Hacienda at 7pm, 3 hours later.

We have been on the phone with BIL/SIL and they had 15 min to evacuate from Orinda Village in Yorba Linda around 8:30 pm with several cats and dogs. TV has mentioned the fire burning toward their location which is an older area off of the north side Carbon Canyon Road towards Chino Hills.

Let me know any updates on information on that area. They are looking for a hotel at this time.

Thanks

Dear OC hillbillies: thanks for making the air disgusting for ten million people.

Have you guys considered putting together a fire department, or is that too "socialistic" and "big government" for people in the land that gave us Richard Nixon? Just wondering.

I really don't understand this stupid remark. Both of my family members who are evacuated and waiting to see if their home and a lifetime of memories are gone happen to be PHDs. One is department head at UC Fullerton and has lived in YL for over 35 years.

Get a clue!
