Happy Father's Day this Sunday to all the daddy-o's on this board.

Plans, anyone?

I have put a lot of thought into a gift this year for my babydaddy.  :) It is a themed gift. It's something old-fashioned and unique. I will post about it next week after he opens it. I think it's pretty cool and I hope he likes it.

This weekend we're going to hit up some BBQ pit he wants to visit for Father's Day lunch.

Have fun, you all.

Went to a Pizza party for Father's day at my kid's preschool.. that was fun.. play hooky from work, and eat junk food with the kid and burn off energy on the schools playground.. Love to watch the kids interact with each other..

Taking Soylent Red, Yellow, and Blue, along with my Father in Law to the Magic Castle's AM Brunch, then show afterwards.

I gave him two precious children. The best gift ever...
You are telling me he needs more?  :-\

I feel you.  :) Same here. Gave him two very smart, very handsome sons, cook his favorite meals and clean for him every day. Every day is Father's Day for him.  ;)

Seriously, though. I feel bad that I don't do as much as I used to. I used to go all out, make him treasure hunts with rhyming clues leading to his gifts... put a lot more effort into it. These days, life is too busy and we're old and tired but I do what I can to make him feel extra special. As long as he's having a good time, that's what counts.  :)

My wife never did these things for me.  But again I never did those types of things for her.....

Here is what we will do on Sunday. Drive 259 Miles NE. Seriously, Father's day always gets overshadowed with a lot of other celebrations in my house. My birthday kind of ruins it for him. So does the last day of school and report card reward system..

I will video chat with my dad. The kids bought him a #1 Grand Dad T-shirt from Target with matching hat last year. I am 100% sure he will wear the same shirt for his video chat :-)

SoCal- you are a good wife.

Phew! I almost typed "I never did those things to anyone, and no one went all out planning an elaborate thing for me" :-) Makes me happy to know I am not alone..

Oh, yeah, CZ! That's right, Sunday is your birthday! I wanted to treat you to lunch this weekend to celebrate but since you have a trip planned, let's do it when you get back. You pick where we go. I hope you have a very happy birthday!

Thank you :-) Yes, I will get in touch with you when I return, and this time lets go somewhere you can eat too!

IHO, I am like you- my happiness comes through them. I don't want to sound like a martyr mother, but, if they are not happy, they will interrupt mine! In order to enjoy a good moment, I need to give them one first :-)

If you want a successful business then target the kids. Business to enhance the kids intelligence, physical fitness, nutrition, amusement, and etc. Parents would skip luxury so the children could have the latest gadgets and the best of things.

Don't order the rack of lamb there.

It's a general buffet so I don't think you can order off any kind of menu. I didn't realize the place was still open what with the fire they had couple of years back. Since re-opening the place has a few flattering Yelp! reviews so thought it might be good for a few giggles.  You try the lamb and it didn't go well?

Father's Day usually ends up us doing what the kids want to do... after all... without them I wouldn't be a father.

So true! I'm going to Circus Vargas with my kid on Sunday.

Ball in the morning.

Lunch with my dad and extended family (his sister and her kids/my cousins/my nephews/nieces coincidentally ended up at the same restaurant).

One open house (University Park) and a Lambert Ranch tour (it is IHO day).

Pool with the kids.

Win for Miami Heat.

Gonna go get some bad for me food to cap it off.

Good Father's Day all in all.

P.S. The University Park open house was more packed than Lambert Ranch.

Up at night with a sick boy.
Morning came. Other one is showing signs too.
Missed church.
Missed BBQ lunch.
Missed swimming.
D'oh!
Happy Father's Day.  :(
Made the best of it. Rescheduled plans.
Cooked him a nice breakfast.
Opened gifts from all of us.
Handmade cards and gifts from them.
A gift card to V's Barbershop*** for a cut, shoe shine, and straight-edge shave "on me".
Shaving set to complete the theme.
Along with some candy and "coupons" I made.
Hung out. I escaped for a couple a little bit to hit the gym since we were grounded.
Next weekend will be Father's Day: Take 2. Everyone is doing better now. Crossing my fingers.

*** I recommend all guys make one trip to V's just to try it. It's an old-fashioned barber. Pretty cool. Hot towel treatment with haircut. One barber uses a vintage massager on the neck and shoulders. It's dressed up like a billiard's room. TVs tuned to manly programs. They are very busy. Make an appointment for a weekday or else be prepared for a long wait on a weekend walk-in.

I take back everything I said above about trying V's Barbershop. I do not recommend. We were appalled by the behavior of the barber today. It is totally not okay to yell at the paying customer for any reason. Unprofessional, rude, and embarrassing. Forget the fact their cuts are inconsistent and the shop is poorly managed. This was the last straw for me.

I'm having fantasies lately of training to cut men's hair - a female barber, if you will - so I don't have to put up with this anymore. Might as well. With three men's cuts per month, I've got to figure something out and fast.
