But if you have to buy it, get the spicy chicken one.

I had some last night. I had a dance recital for my daughter and we were done at around 8:45 pm. I was craving pizza (but as a Chicagoan, I really don't like the pizza here- too many chains and I am not a stuffed pizza girl either- i like thin). Anyways, went to Amici but there was no pizza by the slice. Went to NY Upper Crust but it was closing! So, last resort, my husband went to El Pollo Loco and got a bunch of stuff including the sliders. We have never tried El Pollo Loco since we've been here. The sliders were ok- spicy was definitely the better, but there was too much bread for my taste.

I second that! It doesn't go down heavy at all.
 
I was reading a food critic that is getting quite ticked off that every small sandwich is now a slider. A true slider is beef and it is cooked with onions and the steam that the onions create helps cook the burger. I don't know but I thought it was funny.

I tried the BBQ slider. It was more like a wish slider. I wish it had more meat in them. (Old joke I know but it fits.)

The KFC snacker is much better then what El Pollo Loco put out here.

I haven't found a good fast food slider but BJs sliders on their app. menu are good in my opinion.

The most original Chicago style pizza I've found is up in Placentia. It's a tiny place in a strip mall, but the pizza should remind you of home.

I really wish they would put one of these 24-hour Alberto's knockoffs in Irvine (although the Lake Forest location is just on the border). My life would be shorter... but much happier.

I know everyone likes the Carne Asada fries but you have to try the OG stuff like the rolled tacos and the Carne Asada chips (AKA heart attack nachos).

Also, there's a new Alberto's in Orange County, it's in Santa Ana on Edinger and Grand.

There was an Alberto's by my High School (Mater Dei) that my friends and I used to go to a lot for lunch and after football practice. Oh the memories! Btw, except for Donut Star and some fast food places I don't know if anything else is allowed to stay open 24-7 in Irvine.
 
There is an Adlebertos on El Camino Real and Newport in Tustin.

The Carne Asada Nacho's are awesome. It is a typical hole in the wall but it is great.

I've never veered away from the Chicago style pizza because it's a slam dunk. If you go during lunch, make sure to get your work done before you go, because you'll be in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon. ha.

BTW, what year'd you graduate from MD?

That's actually called Alberta's. They are a little different than the typical A-[something]-o's that are cousins to the Alberto's in San Diego. Their rolled tacos and other menu items are not the same.

The only ones that are almost exact are Albertaco's in Mission Viejo, Alerto's in Fountain Valley and Alejandro's in Costa Mesa.
 
Try the Buffalo Meat Sliders at Leatherby's. It's kinda a ritzy place by OCPAC. We went there for Happy Hour week, and the buffalo sliders were some of the best I've had.
