Driving to Vegas new years

I think its 50% not risking one of the cars.

And 50% I want to party when I do Vegas. That means driving is not a good option.

Nothing like waiting for my flight at LAS in the USAIR club on the way home.

Then sleeping for the hour home in the plane. Planes make me sleep for some reason

after years of business travel. Way more relaxing than dodging drunk drivers on the 15

after 3 days of limited sleep.

QFT! Too many times, I get stuck driving home after a SEMA event. I've almost sworn it off after so many issues.

Heh I drove my SRT8 to SEMA a couple years back, got there really fast. Tons of sports cars on the way, lots of racing... too much fun, so lucky i didnt get caught.

Fly out of Long Beach or John Wayne and save the hassle.

Not true, you just have to be smart about when you leave So Cal and Vegas. If you've driven enough times, you will have a wide open road which is very relaxing for me (pop in some CDs and clear my head). I love driving (I have a sports car with a radar detector) and hate dealing with airports, especially McCarran.

Other reasons not to drive.

Wear and tear on the car. My car is not Valet Friendly. Too low. Too fast.

FYI. They use planes to speed trap you on the 15 these days.

Yes McCarran can be a pain in the butt.

But watching some guy pass me towing a boat going 100 MPH is not my idea of a relaxing drive

on the 15.

I’m with you on this.

Cannot handle the long drive going and especially coming back tired.

Flying is not only faster but much more convenient for me as well.

We both have sweet rides.

Of course, we’d want to pull up to the valet and show them off.

It’s just not worth the hassle or time for me either.

We're already home, rested and going out for a nice/relaxing Sunday dinner by the beach while most of these guys are still stuck on the 15

Oh believe me, I have a low car with lots of power which is what makes the drive fun. If you go in the middle of the night, it's an open road with almost no cops (I do use a V1 radar detector though). I do have a home in the suburbs that I own with my dad so I don't stay at hotels, just park it in the 3-car garage.

I have a HB townhouse as a rental (my first home - has a 5% 30-year fixed mortgage with a $1,400 property tax bill), a 4plex in Las Vegas, a condo rental in Vegas, and the Santa Ana REO condo that I picked up in March. I am cash flow positive on all the rentals and have a nice active real estate tax loss to shelter my earned income.

I drive a Honda Accord as my daily driver and have a 550hp 911 Turbo as my weekend/track car.

I agree with the statements you have made about deflation in other threads. And though it's none of my business, I wonder why you would hold that many properties and be looking for others when you think that deflation is in our future.

I agree with the statements you have made about deflation in other threads. And though it's none of my business, I wonder why you would hold that many properties and be looking for others when you think that deflation is in our future.

Well, deflation is here for the near term but in the not to distant future we will see significant inflation which may be very positive in terms of rents and property values.

Well, yes and no. It's technically McCarran, but you fly into the Las Vegas Executive Air Terminal, which is owned by a private company and is separate from the commercial terminals at McCarran. You can avoid security, customs and baggage claim.
