Downtown L.A. - from lofts to L.A. Live

No! Don't mothball it! You need more units in DT. Everyone wants to live in LA and what better place than DT? Build it and the buyers will come. How many restaurants and grocery stores are in DT? Don't they have a Trader Joes or a Wholefoods? Oh... yeah... maybe if there were some reasons to want to live in DT, other than the smell of urine would be a good concept to work on first.

I think DT is going down in flames....but I will keep my eye out on lofts near L.A. Live. Curious to see the price drops and armageddon there.....

All I know is that effing Gehry tower caused the demolition of my (free) parking structure that I used when in court. Bleh.

Oh yeah... I forgot to ask. Where do you park down there? Where will your friends park? Even at night, have you tried to find parking? It sucks, and if you pay to park in a lot, then don't stay late, because they went home to Valencia where it is safe.

We have all kinds of problems finding parking and food close enough to each other to make sense when we see theater in the area. We keep trying new things until we find something that works well. The other issue is that the hills down there make it difficult to walk around in heels. At least New York doesn't have crazy-ass hills in the areas you'd want to walk around in.

All the driving around looking for parking and restaurants still open after final curtain is eye-opening. Who the hell would want to live there?

There?s always the Ritz Carlton Residences at LA Live.

Supposedly, they?re selling well.

Not sure how late it is open, but a great place to park in downtown LA that is close to city and county offices and courthouses, is at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. It is a nice clean underground lot and what criminal would jack someone's car in a church parking lot? Plus, you can admire the interesting architecture of the building or pray in one of the many quiet grottoes.

Not sure, but a buyer's agent coop of 5% = desperation

Don't forget the 1200 HOAs here. The 399s are probably the 700 sqft, lower level, no view units.

This area is a make it or break it kinda place. I go to X Games at the Staples Center every summer which is right across the street and having stuff going on at LA Live would make that week even more off the chain. The place goes off whenever there are events going on and LA Live looks awesome. The Ritz is probably way out of most people's price range but would make living here more convenient. Prices are still higher than SD so they have a ways to go yet. Great concept though, I like it.

If I had to live in Downtown LA, I may consider Koreatown area. It's dense enough to allow walking to various shops and restaurants. Did I mention restaurants? Highest concentration of 24 hour restaurants in CA? BBQ pork at 3am? Oink oink!
