Hi Guys,

I really want to go jogging again and am trying to figure out if the air quality in Northpark is okay to do so. The ocfa page says the fire is 90% contained. Does that mean 90% out?

Thank you

Contain a fire

A fuel break around the fire has been completed. This break may include natural barriers or manually and/or mechanically constructed line.

Control a fire

The complete extinguishment of a fire, including spot fires. Fireline has been strengthened so that flare-ups from within the perimeter of the fire will not break through this line.

if you dont have any respiratory problems, it should be fine. i took the dog on a run yesterday and didnt notice anything.

Air quality index is here, Change to today's date as needed.

I have mild asthma - I have started back to my walking regimen and even as of yesterday I still felt like the air was impacting my breathing - but only slightly and not enough to keep me in.

Rode Santiago Canyon today and also checked out the newly reopened Modjeska Canyon. No smoldering noted anywhere along that route. Just burnage everywhere and a few homes in the canyon lost, including the dome home on Modjeska Grade.

We went for a drive yesterday. It's a pretty stunning sight to see everything so devastated. Seeing the burned out houses broke my heart. We saw a group of four deer near Irvine Lake and lots of raptors looking for food. The firefighters certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. That less than 20 homes were destroyed in a fire that ravaged such a large area is amazing.
