Not gonna lie, I've eaten at several places since the re-opening, a restauarant, KBBQ, a few fast casual spots and that's not counting eating outdoors at those shared patios at the strip malls in Irvine. I did notice a few fast food joints still are not open inside.
This last weekend has been really "crowded" at the places we've gone to. Some use proper safety protocols, others try and others outright fail.
One thing in contention is the self-serve beverage station. One or two places I went to it was closed, others were open and even others closed it after someone complained it shouldn't be open. Which also brings into question how drink service is supposed to be. One server, who was talking about water refills said they are not allowed to use a pitcher anymore and that they have to give you a new glass every time. But other places, just used that water pitcher as if it was pre-Covid.
We always bring our own hand sanitizer. Some places still have common touch items (like the beverage station and things like salt/pepper and ketchup bottle) and we don't know if they are even wiping down after every use. Many of the eateries also had hand sanitizer available (the TIC strip malls now have spray sanitizer stations).
A few had disposable menus (but one was suspect because it looked like they reused them), others had single page non-disposable so I guess it's easier to wipe-down than a multi-page menu. Not everyone used disposable utensils but one thing I noticed is straws are back
.
How has it been for you other daredevils?
