Cox vs. AT&T

Have Cox for digital HD cable with a few premium channels and AT&T for phone and internet (1.5/384) service. Thinking about switching everything to Cox for their bundled rate of $74 for the first six months, which includes faster internet. I don't think that includes long distance, though, but I haven't had a chance to call them yet and ask.

Where I live, Verizon FIOS or AT&T U-verse are not yet available.

Suggestions or feedback about your service?

had both COx and TV services, plus AT&T phone...all was about 150 a month

then switched to Cox on everything and added Digital Cable plus DVR plus the 3 tier thingy....its like 145-150 a month. So basically by switching all to Cox price stayed the same but I now have a DVR and HD channels :)

The phone service is pretty much the same except now its ran through a modem for some reason.

Ohhh. So the phone is actually VOIP instead of landline. Didn't know that, but that's ok as long as the internet service doesn't crap out.

Yep. Read that. It's mostly about Direct/Dish. Been there, done that in the past, but I'll probably stick to traditional cable for TV service, unless Dish (AT&T) has better service than it used to.

Is that the reason? I have no idea, I just know that we have a cable modem downstairs for the internet, and theres an even bigger cable modem upstairs that the phone plugs into. But all other phones just work through the wall cords.

That will really suck if you have dial 911. I personally resent AT&T as before deregulation they had a monopoly on home phone service and they where the worst in customer service and overcharging on everything. They may have changed as that was a long time ago but i have been very happy with cox and their customer service for 10 years. AT&T's corporate mentality makes me sick...
