I am sourcing the travertine myself and am working with a contractor for the install and was interested in the pricing of the install part alone to see if his quote is any good.
It will be on a concrete sub-floor, honed unfilled in versailles pattern. Whats is a good price to pay for the install which includes filling the travertine, grouting the joints and sealing.

Install cost should be around $3-$4/sf for install (depending on how many square feet and how much cutting is involved).

This is what they came back with for an install on a concrete subfloor,
659 sq. ft. x $0.50 ( cost of slip sheet and installation) = $329.50
659 + 10% = 725 sq. ft. x $3.75                                    = $2718.75
One toilet remove and replace                                      = $50.00
Total for downstairs                                                      = $3098.25

and for two bathrooms on the second floor
106 sq. ft. x $3.00 ( cost of hardy backer and installation) = $318.00
106 + 10% = 117 sq. ft. x $3.75                                        = $438.75
Two toilets remove and replace                                          = $100.00
Total for upstairs                                                                = $856.75

does that look good to you guys ?

Seems fair to me, falls right in the range for install and you do need to get about 5-10% in additional square footage for the tile due to account for scraps.

The only item i did not understand was why they were adding 10% sq footage to the install cost, the tile wastage cost I totally understand.
Is this normal procedure ?
I went with it because he is not charging for demo of the tile (~ 300 sq.ft) that comes installed with the home.

Demo costs for tiles are about $1/sf.  Typically installers will base their price on total square footage plus scraps, that's fairly normal.
