Or more correctly, public sector employed between 2002 and roughly last year when the Ventura decision came in and the big pension give-aways.

No, you're still basically correct.  The only thing that really changed was the pension contribution and I'm not really sure how much that really got trimmed.

Something that employees at Caltrans, Edison, etc. enjoy at your expense.  When Edison's pension fund suffers a loss in the stock market, your utility bill goes up to cover it with PUC (Public Utility Commission)'s approval.

The rest of us have been left out in the street to manage our own retirement fund risks through 401(k)'s in waters that were formally shark infested, but now the sharks have been replaced by giant whales that make us look like krill shrimp.
