At 9:24 a.m., I got my first Amber Alert on my cell phone. It scared the daylights out of me. It started making a loud, blaring alarm sound like one of those emergency broadcast system test things on TV. I thought it was just me.

When Mr. SoCal got home, he said he was in a meeting and every single cell phone in the room started going off all at once.  :o

I guess that means some of you may have, too.

I haven't had time to screw around with the settings and figure out how to turn that off.

My phone played that alert tone too. I was on a call and thought it was somebody's TV. Saw the message later. VZ says you can unsubscribe. I will let it be..

This is a good thing. Police use of technology is finally catching up. I recently got a reverse 911 call about a missing  11 year old boy near the Las Palmas apartment complex. When it comes to abducted children, all available technology should be employed. I don't use twitter or Facebook but I hope the police do.
