So now comes the hard part, how to get rid of the old clunker with the new shiny boat in my garage.  Carmax?  private sale?  I need to detail the car still, clean the air filter, and fix the broken hood stay open mechanism..  I don't have 3 hrs to spare for detailing.. anyone recommend a mobile detail service?  $100 w/tip sounds about right for clay bar and shampoo floor mats?  I can clean the air filter with my k&n kit, but the hood mechanism might require some dough... without it the hood needs to be propped open (my car does not have the old school metal rod that props the hood open).    i think its some sort of shock/air mechanism that needs to be replaced.. besides dealer, you think a body shop can do that?  might need to check out chrysler 300 forums..

Anyone sold their old cars to Carmax?  Better then dealer trade in? 
 
Sold my old car to Carmax before.  Very fast process but they will low ball you.  The best way to maximize the amount you get is private party sale.. craigslist, autotrader, cars.com. 

You can probably pick up the hood struts from your local dealer and install them yourself.  It's very straight forward and easy.
 
Both times I have used carmax, I took that offer to the dealer at trade in.  First the dealer lowballed once and I just replied with "thats okay, I'll take it to Carmax and just bring a check back."  Each time the dealer said okay, then about halfway through they raised the price but still didn't match carmax and I had the same reply.  Then finally write when we are wrapping everything up they say, "oh by the way, we talked to the manager and we are able to match what Carmax will give you." 

Either way, can't hurt to get a free appraisal from carmax to know your worst case scenario.  The cars I had just didn't seem worth the work to go through with a private sale.
 
Installed the hood struts today with no problems, deleted my home link, deleted Nav addresses, and took out my old CDs.  Washed the K&N filter and ordered a signal lamp bulb for my headlight assembly.  Anyone want an amp/woofer set up?  It's a enclosed single woofer (Momo design). Give you the TI discount.
