Looking for a good family car. Big trunk for groceries and trips to Costco. Built Strong so my family will be safe in case of a car accident. I like to have one luxury car for business purposes (meeting with my clients and vendors), and the other a more practical car for regular driving.



Graph, My two FAVS are Acuras and BMWs. So what is it about Asian's automobile taste for Acuras and BMWs and you are truly an egg for liking these cars? I don't like the Acura car salesmen too much. These guys are bit too pushy. Acura TL and TSX are very nice as well.

Newport Coast <- This i am really interested to know? Has anyone here seen a Newport Coast home owner driving around in a Hyundai?

I can't break it down by neighborhood, but on my drive to work, I see alot of 3,5,7 Series being common and of course the Acura/Infiniti being the most common. There are a few smattering of Mercedes , but you see them and the higher end Mercedes, BMW's, Jags and Range Rovers mostly in Newport.



As for the Hyundai Genesis, I have not seen very many, I've seen two in Irvine and that is it. BUT I know of a doctor in Aliso Viejo who traded in an older 5 series and a older 7 series and bought he and his a wife a V6 and he a V8 for the cost of a new 7 series. I recommend you drive one to give it a try, 5 star crash rating all around, pretty much every convience, v8 engine, spectular warrenty. Don't get me wrong there are minor issues even I notice. But as you can realize, I enjoy a good bargin.



As for newport, it just depends, I know this older lady who owns 5 homes in Balboa Island. She sold all 5 at the peak.... She drives a 1980 Toyota Corona!

Exactly what you would think.... But no. You're comparing a fullsized sedan against a 2 door midsized/compact. Both have nearly the same features, just not the same makers.



Drive both cars and tell me what you think. FYI, I get the ability to carry 4 passeners (in comfort), an automatic, gadgets galore with a 290hp engine. Now its not a corner carver like the BMW, but its not a starter 328. And if you really want to get down to it... lets talk about maintence and repair for 3 years. When I had my Audi, after 3 years of owning it, the depreciation, payments, repairs, maintence worked out to about 1800 a month. Not so cheap....



The 328 checks in someting like 42k for 3 years. The Genesis is estimated to be 35k. One other thing that must be mentioned is that a base 328 goes for 37k not 32k (Genesis). So over 3 years that is an extra 12k. (Edmunds, consumer reports, etc.)



Don't get me wrong, the worst thing about the Genesis is that its made by Hyundai. Again do some reading, take a test drive and let me know what you think. I love the luxury brands, but my engineer side gets the best of me knowing i'm paying for a NAME in addition to engineering quality. I am not trying to convince you, i'm more of explaining what I did.



Overall, though I'd think you'd be happier with either the Infiniti or the Acura.

I will definitely check out the New Genesis at my closest Hyundai dealer. My wife is definitely very loyal to supporting the Korean economy, especially Korean made cars. She tells me to buy LG and Samsung over Sony.



Panda Express likes to be unique... If BMW, Acuras, Infiniti, are a dime a dozen in Irvine... Panda would rather be one of the 3 - 4 proud owners of a Hyundai Genesis in all of Irvine.

You can count me in among those few Genesis owners. I got the V6 with Tech package this summer--supposedly the 1st one sold in the US with the Nav option. I have been very happy so far. I did seriously consider BMW 535i, Inifiniti M35/45, and Lexus GS 350/450 (didn't consider the Acura since it is not rear real drive). For the money it is hard to beat the value of the Genesis. But you will take a big prestige hit among the badge conscious OC auto aficionados. It is certainly no BMW when it comes to performance and doesn't have the ?ber isolation of a Lexus. It falls somewhere between an Infiniti and a Lexus in my book. Test drive it and see if it matches your needs. Good luck with your car/suv search.
