California Income Tax Refund

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I filed my taxes back on the 15th and I'll be getting a fund from both the State and Fed Gov't. My state refund will be in excess of $1,000. I got an e-mail on Friday that my returns were accepted backed upon my electronic Turbo Tax prepared returns. But I did the following statement in that accepted e-mail for the State:

"Note: The California Franchise Tax Board has instituted a refund delay due to

the

state's budget situation, but will begin processing refunds as soon as funds

allow."

My question is, how long will it take for me to get my refund from the state???

The state accepted my return on January 30th

And I got my refund Direct Deposited on March 19th

A coworker submitted his 1 day before and got his refund 1 day before me as well.

I received my acceptance email on Saturday, 4/11, and I received my refund (via bank account) on 4/17. I just read the acceptance email, and it also included the note about possible delays due to the budget situation. In my case, there was no unusual delay and in fact, I was surprised that I received the return so soon. In years past, I've received my federal return, first.

i think the delays were jan/feb when they didn't have a budget, but now there is no delay, as they have cash in the bank to pay them.

remember all the broughahah about the IOUs? that's done.

That's kinda what I figured but wanted to see what the timing of refunds were for the other folks on here. I'm getting back almost $2k from the state so I'm looking forward to it hitting my bank account.

You need to do better tax planning SC... Refunds just mean you gave up an interest-free loan.

I'm happy to hold your cash for you during year and pay you 1%. That's at least better than the FTB and Treasury will do for you! I will extend this gracious offer to all IHBers as well...

I filed electronically the evening of April 14th, accepted by FTB on April 15th, and I got the refund last night. Faster than Fed, which I haven't received yet.
