California DMV Offices now closed on 1st and 3rd Fridays

Yup, yesterday was the first "mandatory furlough" day for 200,000 state employees, and that includes the DMV...now closed 1st and 3rd Fridays until the budget mess is fixed.

It will be interesting to see just how well we do without the level of service we have been funding all these years. I would guess that most people will get along quite well with a less expensive form of government.

Agree. The media made a big deal about the closing at the DMV. I can now do my car registrations online or at AAA. Don't have to come in to renew my driver license except for once every 10 years to update my picture. So what's the big deal.



Our state government doubled in size in the last 10 years. It's so bloated with deadwoods so I hope that the Governator will keep this promise to blow up the boxes this time around.
