Interesting links, I'm gonna ask my Argentine co-worker about this.  When racism blends in this well with upbringing, it needs a lot of work to overcome.  I remember growing up my family used this:

Popular in Asia, it was 'the' toothpaste to use.  Took awhile for them to change the name to 'Darlie' yet the Chinese name remains 'Black Person Toothpaste'.  Offensive to the world, but not to a bunch of Asians.
 
this happens every 4 years. everyone gets all excited about the world cup, the talking heads on the radio say how this will propel soccer in the US and then the world cup ends and we dont hear about soccer for the next 4 years. repeat in 4 years.
