Beer Thread

Veltins is my favorite, just too difficult to get, they had it for a while in a store in Costa Mesa, but not anymore. It is a relatively bitter Pilsner - perfect.

"Beer cocktails are making a comeback in the spirits world, and they're going beyond the black-and-tan (Guinness and Bass ale) and the boiler-maker (a shot of whiskey in a glass of beer)..."

Hey, there's nothing wrong with mixing a sweet cider with the rich malty goodness of guiness. The flavors compliment one another and they're part of the same family of beverages. Nothing wrong with a black and tan. I have to draw the line at fruit juices and mixers. What's next, a pineapple wedge and a cocktail umbrella?

Anheuser-Busch says InBev makes $46B buyout bid

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Anheuser-Busch Cos., the nation's biggest brewery, received a $46 billion buyout offer Wednesday from a Belgian brewer that might be too good to refuse.

The maker of Budweiser beer disclosed late Wednesday that InBev SA, whose brands include Beck's and Stella Artois, delivered an unsolicited all-cash bid of $65 a share. It's unclear whether senior Anheuser-Busch executives think the deal makes sense, but shareholders may be drawn to the offer that represents a sizable premium over the company's closing price of $58.35 Wednesday.

Are they going to go more upscale? Nahhh...

I think this is a play for shelf space. How they get it through antitrust I'll never know.

I bought a case of Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager, and I'm pretty much unimpressed. I'm going back to drinking Hefs for the rest of the summer. The Christmas brew is awesome, but this one is meh at best.
