My barber is going home for new years so I need to get a cut soon,  I'll take any recommendations around Irvine/Tustin.  Max $20 with tip, just need a fade, nothing fancy, but must be able to fade with electric clippers...

Dude... Bell Tower Barber in Lake Forest (off of Raymond and El Toro).

$7... $10 with tip if they do you good.

For your first time... you might want to wait for one of the twins (Mike or Gene) but everyone there is decent.

If you head out toward Westminster area, I recommend James Salon on magnolia and McFadden.  $8 a pop and they know what they are doing! Swing by brodard afterwards :)

Or donut star for some chow mein

Not too bad...  got cut by one of the viet guys in the back..  $7 plus $3 tip is $7 less then my old barber..  old school barber shop...  the air blast thing is a little annoying..  usually I try to find my Kung Fu Panda "Inner Peace" during my cuts.. the air blast to the ear jolted me quickly out of it..  all the barbers seems to fade well..  what's the point of taking a number?

When it gets crowded... that number becomes crucial.

It also ensures you get the barber you want if you are waiting for them. A few times a guy tried to swoop in before me on one of the twins and I show him my number 37 when he's got 51.

Nowadays, if the twins are busy I don't wait... I'll either go to their sister (Lilly) or the short young Vietnamese guy on the right side. The one biker barber my kids think is Santa Claus.

Got cut again today at Bell Tower... used the viet guy on the left this time.... walking in they were conversing in French... American style barber shop, staffed with viet guys speaking French.. nice

Upgraded to the $8 cut today for a 0 high fade.. this guy was really skilled... thanks again IHO, I owe you one for this rec... probably save about $70 a year versus going to my old barber..

Sounds like you went to one of the twins, Gene or Mike. Their sister is Lily and I believe their mom works there too. They are the owners.

I think their home is New Guinea actually... I might have that wrong but it's not Vietnam. I'll ask again next time I'm in.

+1 for Bell Tower.  I've been going there for 3 years now.  You can't beat the prices.

Well... my afro is getting fluffy so I'll probably be there this weekend.

Isn't Supercuts like $15 per cut?

What's lame is my wife doesn't like Bell Tower to cut my son's hair so he ends up going to one of those Kids barbers and it runs $20+... luckily he gets his hair cut way less often than I do.

Third cut here, same guy as last time, not as smooth as prior but I blame myself for walking in with bedhead at 9:00 Sunday morning... Went to smart foods one parking lot over and found a Mongolian BBQ place!  Don't know why but I have a fondness for this crap/mall food.  I might have to consider moving to Lake Forest...so much to eat on El Toro rd..

That Mongolian BBQ has been there forever... love that place... especially the pocket bread.

That whole El Toro Rd has been renovated over the years... the Arbor center is new and they just tore down and reconstructed the Sizzler. I think Lake Forest is the closest place that has buffet Chinese food (there are two, Dragon Buffet on Rockfield and Asia Buffet across from Bell Tower Barber).

I was there yesterday too... but at closing (didn't know they closed at 4:30 on Sundays). When I was there... I realized there is another set of "twins" there... older Vietnamese guys but I don't think they are really twins... just very close in age and appearance. Were they one of the guys who cut your hair?

There's a sizzler nearby?  If there is a shakeys nearby I would really have to consider moving here..

My guys seat is the third one from the back on the left.  He is on the same side as the sister of the twin (she was speaking some French language so I assume she is the sister.  The two viet guys are across I think on the right side?  Didn't have my glasses on so couldn't see that well.

Heh... it's right when you turn left onto Raymond... right on the corner... can't believe you haven't seen it.

There used to be one in Costa Mesa off of Newport Ave and the 55. It closed a few years ago... the next closest is in Santa Ana off of Edinger I think... then there is one in Anaheim but pretty far. Both are nice... the Santa Ana one is just so far from freeways and side streets take a while to get there.

That's probably Gene... his brother is closer to the entrance... those are the owners.
