Screw the quotas or drive for diversity, if I owned my own business I would hire the best candidates for the job regardless if they are blue, green, purple, man, woman, or transgender.
That would be illegal. Any smart company is not going to come close to that liability/discrimination nightmare. Best you can hope for if you want to get more diverse environment is that very qualified individuals that happen to also be diverse apply.
I've applied for a few jobs back when I was at college decades ago and was told that they were only looking for minorities to meet their quotas. They didn't even accept my application. These were big companies like Intel. Could I have sued? Should I have? Would I have? (no)
I still see companies like Facebook and Google on the news every once and a while stating that they are trying to hire as many women as possible. How can they make this claim?
Are they simply bypassing "Quota" by renaming Quota to Goal?
What about getting government contracts? Don't they sometimes have a % requirement of disadvantaged (minority or women) employees? The government does give priority to disadvantaged owners when it comes to priority on bidding.
