Noticed many Chinese places opening up and taking over American joints.

I was trying to read the sign for the new Asian restaurant taking over the Marie Callenders location. I think it translates to :

I think Chinese in general are taking over.

On the outside restaurants are turning Chinese but it's still Mexican in the back.

Those are not authentic Chinese food. Those are for American Chinese and Americans

Bad sign is when the upscale Mainlander restaurants are moving into the city. The flagship is at Century City next to the AMC. Ate there and was not impressed. Irvine is no longer quaint, bucolic and serene like what it used to be.

When the American restaurants closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter the Chinese restaurants come to the rescue for those are not cooking at home.
