Anyone know of any Civil Engineering positions out there?

My friend is looking to get out of her company, she's a civil engineer with her LEED, taking the PE in a few months.

I know the CE firm in the office next to ours has done two rounds of layoffs recently... I suspect that is indicative of the overall employment market in those firms right now.

Are you familiar with <a href="http://www.indeed.com">Indeed.com</a>? Though I know nothing about civil engineering, a <a href="http://www.indeed.com/q-civil-engineer-l-92648-jobs.html">quick search</a> turns up a lot of his in the area.

Most firms who need Civil Engineers are either in the process of layoffs, or is preparing for the upcoming layoffs. It is a very difficult market. This is ten time worse then the dot com bust by my personal experiences as I have come across so many of my friends / family members being laid off, on the brink, taking a forced paycut or drastically reduced revenue for self employed.

Shooby, try the obvious (monster).

I just had a sister-in-law move to Chicago from San Diego. They were employed here, but I guess she had better opportunities there. Have you ever though about starting your own business?

Thanks guys.

Yeah the market is really tough. Seems like all major projects are on hold right now, so with nothing in the books or billable hours, no one is safe.

I've always wanted to start a business, but not sure this is the best time to dig up that dream.

Mrs. Vas is a civil. She had an interview yesterday which looks pretty promising, but it wasn't with a structural firm. It was with a water/enviromental firm.

Wish her good luck for me.
