Another short visit to Vegas (Hilton Resort World)

Just returned from Vegas. Stayed at Hilton tower at LV Hilton Resort World. Our friends stayed at Conrad tower next door in same complex. The Hilton tower's window view is the parking lot, versus Conrad tower room was bigger/nicer and had a nice view of "Enchant", which is like a theme park of Christmas lights maze, and various activities.

Here's my ratings:
Hotel: the Hilton tower is adequate, but if you can afford it get the 2 room suite at Conrad tower with a view.
Food: Resort world has the largest Asian themed food court in Vegas, which looks great on surface but quality of food is poor. We had a large party and ordered a variety of dishes. The ramen chashu and soup tasted off, worst Hainan chicken ever, yakitori that resembled something out of a microwave, you get the idea. Go eat elsewhere.
Enchant: They put quite a lot of effort into this and I think it's worth the ticket price to take the kids. Needless to say prices on drinks and snacks are high inside.
Casino: Either we got lucky or they have better slot payout vs other Casinos on the strip.
Location: Walking distance to couple strip clubs (yes it's that side of town), but short drive to Chinatown restaurants, LV outlet mall (parking is packed), Children's discovery museum ($15, 3 stories of playground, worth the $), etc.

Other notes:
Peggy Sue's 50's diner outside of Barstow actually serve decent diner food. The dinosaur park out back has seen better days with the gift shop closed, but inside the restaurant you will find a gift shop and old style ice cream parlor for the kids. They get pretty packed, but there are other options nearby if you don't want to wait. Didn't make it to Calico ghost town but will visit next time.

Haven City Market food hall in Rancho Cucamonga has a good selection of eateries and not too far from Victoria Gardens: https://www.havencitymarket.com/

Other notes:
The Starbucks at Hilton had card reader set to 20% tip by default. @#%@#%.
If anyone is confident in running a successful dim sum restaurant, try Las Vegas. You'll be busy every day. Talk to the staff at Yum Cha on Tropicana Ave.

Did you walk the strip? Last visit (Summer '22) it really didn't feel safe doing that with the kids. The vibe was just way different than pre-covid and lots more homeless and scary looking individuals.

It was too cold to walk the strip, but yes, there were more visible homeless & tent encampments from the streets. Judging from the traffic, I think Vegas received a good influx of visitors for Xmas and New Year's. But many are not walking the strip.

There is also an on-going labor shortage issue. Major on-strip casinos and resorts can afford to pay higher wages to attract workers, but off-strip shops are not doing well. The New Orleans hotel and casino spent $4.5 million to refurbish its French Market buffet into Melody buffet in 2017. It has remain closed since March 2020.

also stayed at conrad during the break, went to utah and stayed at palazzo. took the tesla for the entire, they had free charging both at conrad and palazzo. autopilot is awesome, def felt less tired
palazzo's elevator from garage leads to the room elevators which is awesome, conrad, not so much, had to traverse thru the casino...
