American Shame

What do we call this? Greed? Gluttony? <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081128/ap_on_bi_ge/wal_mart_death_8">Wal Mart worker killed when opening store.</a>

Apparently trampled by people stepping over and on him to get in the store at 5AM.

Is this really what America has become? We'll trample people to death in the doorway to get to a $798 50 inch LCD TV?

Apparently not.... I was completely disgusted today, I saw kids running around with the parents credit card. They were discussing which one spent more that day. They could not have been more than 13 years old. Already they have ZERO idea of what financial responsibility is. I shutter to imagine what they will become when older.

Don't be afraid. Short America and prosper.

It has been tough for shorts. I think though that if you are patient and study, you might have some awsome deals on long stuff.

As country, we have been worse. For those who lived through the dark days of the 1983 Christmas shopping season, the violence that broke out over Cabbage Patch Kids was nationwide and lasted for months. The number of people injured while trying to purchase one was higher than the number of dolls actually produced. Honestly, the country went off it's collective rocker that year.

Who picks an ULTRA short fund to demonstrate how bad it has been. Simply take a look at DOW jones, and tell me who is hurting. Shorts or Longs?

I'll make a confident prediction. 10 years from now DOW will be at 10K. Welcome to our lost decade or two..

The only awesome deals you will have on the long stuff is temporary movements up. One must be extremely selective from now on. Simply buying the S&P 500 won't get you NOTHING for at least 10+ years.

This country will see a very long period of sideways trading. Covered calls will be your friend in times like that.

Of course! The big issue will be which companies will stay the course and continue to be around. I've done quite well of up movements, but i'm not some guru.

good luck
