You forgot to mention that you (probably) used a traditional 30-year fixed rate mortgage to buy that condo: a mortgage product of little use to the first time buyer in the last 7 years since the market was so inflated.

On several occasions. I even got tagged with a ticket a few times for it. At that point I figured fair was fair. Not only was I speeding that time, but plenty of times in the past when I wasn't caught. So I paid the ticket, did traffic school, and moved on.

I also pay my library fines. I take it you don't?

Listen up irvine. You've probably run that stop sign a hundred times before, yet you whine about the one ticket you receive. This is my tip: take your lumps and pay the ticket, then go to traffic school. Now enough about this topic.
 
EvalSeraphim, not try to argue with you...but EVERYONE pays late fees when you return your books, or video late. Everyone pays late fees when you file tax late...It is fair and square...I have no issue, and will never argue with anyone about it..Hiding behind trees in neighbourhood streets to catch people rolling over stop signs at < 5 miles away while leaving the gangs on the streets is a different story. By the way, those are the same cops who are saying thet dont have enough money and budget to catch gangs!!! WTF!!!!! I am going to pay the ticket and move on...But that doesn't change the TREND: they are doing this to make money for the county, and hiding behind "enforcing the traffic law"...why they are not enforcing the no killing no gang law? Listin to John and Ken show on 640, you will know this is not just happen to select few of us...it is a trend...Ok..I am done...won't mention this again...

My apology to you. The advertisement on TV during Football rarely target women viewers. You are definitely in the minority demographic. I remembered one of my studies and one contributor was a nurse who loved knitting and collected doll houses. The nurse was a guy and my conclusion of the report was skewed.

Props to mino2126 and irvineperson for diligently saving the down while your friends piss their money away. I feel your pain. I can't tell you how much I want to get out of my cramped apartment and into my own home--one that I can walk all the way around. Personally I could never be satisfed having a condo or town home. To me its not a home when you have to listen to your neighbor move furniture or do the mombo-jombo, or when you don't have your own yard large enough for a couple of dogs (I want an English Springer Spaniel).

The way I look at it, financial freedom means the opportunity to make what you want of life: to go on vacations and spend time with your family, to not have to stress about money, and to have the opportunity of living a higher quality of life. In obtaining financial freedom I am convinced you must learn delayed self-gratification, and saving up for a home is an excellent exercise in this. Most people in Southern California never have, nor ever will, learn this level of self control; exemplified by their impatience, materialistic obsession, and pretentious facade of wealth.
