My kids went to South Lake because at that time Sierra Vista had a lot of "issues" and South Lake was pretty good. We carpooled with other APAAS kids and they didn't turn out so bad all coming out of the worst middle school on that list. Didn't have any trouble going from that to Northwood High either.

So............ looking at that list if the test scores only depended on the school (which I don't believe to be true..... I think individual teachers, parents and who the kids pick as their friends have a lot to do with their study habits, values), best bang for your buck is buying an older home in northwood (Park Paseo) where the kids would go to either Canyonwood or Santiago Hills, Sierra Vista and Northwood High, all for no mello and compared to newer homes more modest housing prices.

That is if that were your only criteria for buying in Irvine, you don't mind an older home and you're on a budget.

Stonegate kicks butt, as usual! Second year in a row!!

Here is 2015 data.

Our Irvine schools compare to those coveted Cupertino unified.

Low or no MR?  ;D

Would be interesting to throw in another column with avg MR and HOA costs around these schools.

Don't read too much into scores and assume MR or HOA dues should be directly correlated to test scores or greatschools.net scores or any 'best schools in the country' list.  There are a LOT of factors that go into the level of MR or HOA dues.
