IRVINE ? Police and federal officials are looking for a man who robbed two banks within half an hour Tuesday, officials said.
The two robberies occurred in banks located just over a mile-and-half from each other, officials said.
In both instances, the robber, reported to be about 6 feet tall, with blond hair and blue eyes, made a verbal demand to the tellers and walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash, said FBI Special Agent Chris Gicking.
The first robbery occurred at a Chase Bank branch on Quail Hill, just south of the I-405 freeway, Gicking said. The robbery was reported just after 11 a.m.
The man was reported as being 6 feet tall and 165 pounds, wearing a beanie or a ski hat, he said.
At 11:20 a.m., a second robbery was reported at 6540 Irvine Center Drive, in a Comerica Bank branch.
Again, the man demanded cash from the teller and walked away.
The man was seen leaving in a vehicle during one of the robberies, said Lt. Julia Engen of the Irvine Police Department. The Orange County Sheriff's Department is assisting in trying to locate the suspect.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Irvine Police Department.
