WAT? Trade War with China Avoided over... CHICKEN FEET? ... blargle

Never really dug chicken feet, lots of work for not much meat...

Cafes open late (until 11pm or later)?

Anybody know of any cafes that are open until at least 11pm or so on weekdays? Usually if I have some sort of work that doesn't require lots of critical thinking (like brushing up a resume, website design, etc) I like to do it at a cafe every now and then. Therein lies the problem - OC is a...

Anyone like that 85 degrees bakery?

They are going to make SOOOOOOOO much money when (not if, mind you) they open one in the 626.

    Obama Healthcare Speech

Well, I may not be as verbose as some of the opinions here, but I just think the insurance companies have behaved in a deplorable way. There have been well documented cases of this and I don't think I need to quote statistics. I think if there is a government sponsored option, it will force...

The Rep from South Carolina yelling "You lie!"

It was rude - but I am almost certain had someone done this to Bush people would be cheering. Disclaimer: I voted for Obama. I just think people have double standards far too often.

    Obama Healthcare Speech

I personally believe that a government sponsored option (not forced, mind you) is the way to go. I really cannot understand why people are so against it. Honestly, do people think that the for-profit insurance companies really care about your health? People that are...

    Need Pest Control

If your name is accurate, IACRenter, shouldn't IAC cover these costs? At my community Newport Exterminators comes out every Thursday to spray outdoor areas. I also spoke to management here about a possible bug infestation (which so far it seems was only because of the hotter summer days) - and...

For 87 million, shouldn't you get a bigger pool?

For anything that costs even remotely close to 87 million, a website would be a "cheap" investment even if it cost $50K to make. And, good lord, why anyone would need that much property is beyond me. But I'm a mere mortal.

    Diet Coke

If we're talking about addictions... mine is definitely coffee. It's my daytime beer, with the "ahhhhhhh" feeling after you first sip.

    Anyone like that GuppyHouse?

Guppy House is OK, nothing fancy. That said, it is definitely NOT worth the wait at the Irvine location. I used to work in Anaheim Hills so I'd visit that one, never a wait. If you have to wait more than 20 mins, skip it.

    Diet Coke

Coke Zero > Diet Coke at least in my opinion. And they both trump Diet Pepsi.

    Lofts in OC?

I'm going to have to play devil's advocate... BCD in the new Diamond plaza is 24 hours... in Irvine. hehe. But you do have a point, late night munchies are few and far between in the suburbs.

    Lofts in OC?

While I don't necessarily disagree with bk's points... urban living doesn't necessarily have to arise from extreme densities or overpopulation, though those definitely are symptoms of many "urban areas", aka. NYC, SF, London, Tokyo. I would consider anywhere that a car is not necessary with the...

    Affordable Cities???

Ever consider Tustin? It's got a good central location (like Irvine), but prices tend to be cheaper, especially outside Tustin Ranch (which is basically an extension of Irvine).

    Lofts in OC?

I've thought about looking for a loft because I miss the "urban" vibe which is nowhere to be found in OC, but then I decided it just doesn't make sense. None of the neighborhoods in OC really support that urban lifestyle they are promoting - at most you can go downstairs and go to Starbucks...

Woodbury East Opening July 11, 2009

As a lender I'd be willing to lend to someone who showed me they had a 50% + down, and as a seller of course. I just can't see why anyone with that much money in hand would go for a community that's bound to be a little cramped, with limited parking, and shared walls if you could easily afford...

Woodbury East Opening July 11, 2009

What I don't understand is if really - you have the cash to plunk down two, three hundred grand for a starter home in Irvine - why go through this hassle of fighting for a townhome? Why not explore your options with that kind of money? Obviously if you have a couple hundred grand liquid in the...

Woodbury East Opening July 11, 2009

Just echoing the previous posts - it was like a zoo on opening day. My friend went around 9:30 before opening as well and it was already a zoo. Word on the street is that total taxes will come out to just under 2%. Not surprised that there were this many people - but my hope is that at least...
