    Columbus Square - homeless shelter

I was joking when I mentioned the "socialism" thingy. Just to poke at these pure capitalists infesting these forums :) Socialism this, socialism that, just shut up and be glad you are in much better situation than other people (probably because you, your parents or your ancestors somehow...

Woodbury East Opening July 11, 2009

The main reason Asians are buying is because Irvine became the hub and center for "sexy" successful asians. So if I am Asian, it would be no brainer for me to buy at these prices, as I am buying in a community that I can relate to and make many friends, and when my parents visit from asia...

    Aliso Viejo, nicer and cheaper?

We are thinking of buying (maybe renting first) in Aliso Viejo, as we like the area and its close proximity to Newport Beach (where we work). We are aware of the toll expense, but what other draw-backs does Aliso Viejo have?: 1- Schools not as good as Irvine? 2- Undesirable area for...

    FRONTLINE Presents: Inside the Meltdown

<blockquote>"On Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, the astonished leadership of the U.S. Congress was told in a private session by the chairman of the Federal Reserve that the American economy was in grave danger of a complete meltdown within a matter of days. ?There was literally a pause in that room...

Where to find good rates for refinance?

I live in Irvine/Newport Beach. My loan on my Chicago home is with CountryWide. Their current fixed rate is 5.25%. I heard people can refinance now at or below 5%. Where to find such rates? Any good lenders out there with really good rates? My FICO score is excellent. We are both...

    Obama's Robin Hood Program

Honestly optimusprime, this is very weak argument. It sounds clever, but it is totally flawed. Using you argument, we should just stop having a government, and each one should be on their own. This is the only way you will never distribute wealth, either by class, by lobbying interests...

IAC Renters. Check the prices before you renew your Lease.

I rent for $2400 in Newport Bluffs, and I see at least 4 vacant units in my floor, but none of them is showing up in the Irvine Company Rental-Living website (under any floor plan). They listed only a couple of units from another building with even higher prices than 6 month ago. I wonder...

    Increasing Rent in OC

Agree. I rent for $2400, and I see at least 4 vacant units in my floor, but none of them is showing up in the Irvine ompany Rental-Living website. They listed only a couple of units from another building with even higher prices than 6 month ago. I wonder why they do that, while I clearly...

Touring Irvine. Are these builders out of their mind? JUNK for $ 1 mil???

"I wouldn't worry much...the $1mm won't last much longer since non-confirming 30yr is around 8%-8.5%" I have a question about your comment: I understand that "conforming" loan must have 1- 20% downpayment 2- Good FICO score 3- 3x income But what I feel is that, many lenders...

Touring Irvine. Are these builders out of their mind? JUNK for $ 1 mil???

It is a matter of bang for the buck. I prefer to down size my invetments and other expenses and buy in Newport Beach, or find something affordable in Irvine. Since Irvine is the expensive Huyndai it is, I would (no brainer) opt for Newport Beach. And I agree, Newport Beach is Bill Gross...

Touring Irvine. Are these builders out of their mind? JUNK for $ 1 mil???

Porsche is Newport Beach, Huyndai is Irivne. That is the problem. Anyway, I agree with you, it is a free market, and I will choose to buy the Porsche (Newport Beach) as compared to Huyndai. It is much better bang for the buck (at these Huyndai prices).

Touring Irvine. Are these builders out of their mind? JUNK for $ 1 mil???

"Maybe a million dollar is not worth as much anymore? " Well, if I am making 1/4 of this, and still cannot afford it (unless I become house poor), then who is buying these fancy apartments? Maybe I have the wrong career (to live in Irvine)? So what I need to be then to live in...
