Snut and gaogi: thanks for sharing your experiences. Its good to hear about other people's new home buying experiences. A couple of interesting things Ive gathered from your posts:
1. Interesting that a CA room and Observatory cost the same. My experience was that a CA room is half the price...
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that if the property is not in the Will or Trust, the home gets re-assessed and the child or whomever is the next of kin has to pay the difference in property tax. (need someone to confirm this...)
Speaking of all types of stuff...if your kids chalk up the driveway with their astounding "artwork", do we have to clean it up right away or will I get a nasty letter from the HOA the next day otherwise?
Thanks SoCal! I'm not sure if I want an expensive countertop material. I might be satisfied with just the stained wood top. I'll have to see how much the quote would be first. I'll see what HD offers...
I need some recommendations for someone to build/install a built in desk. I didnt use the builder upgrades because it was so overpriced.
I know Homer and bones discussed something similar in the "Media Niches" thread, but I thought I would start a new one since that thread was old.
Any advice...
Yes, Ive been keeping up with all the comments about Potty, i mean Portoilet, i mean Portola Springs.
I agree that 750K should at least warrant a driveway and backyard.
One thing that isnt taken into account is that the Portola Springs listing (54 Land Grant) is actually the model for Sevilla Plan 2. Normal price for that plan was around 600K. So for750K you can get a fully furnished new home wiht upgrades.
Now are all those upgrades worth the extra 150K price...
Actually priced to be similar to the Audi A5 and BMW 5-series. You can also already put in your $5000 fully refundable deposit on Fisker's website if you want. In all honesty, if everything goes as planned, the Atlantic will be my next car.
Being better than something else would usually mean it has less shortcomings or the shortcomings have less of an impact. IMO, LA has its own set of shortcomings. Each buyer will have to justify in his/her mind which shortcomings have a bigger impact. I dont think it is cut and dry to say LA is...
1. The Hunger Games
2. 7.5/10
3. The movie itself was interesting enough to keep me entertained throughout. The movie was well made and I think it lived up to the hype. I had to love Lenny Kravitz and Stanley Tucci, they were great in their roles. Has anyone else out there seen Battle Royale...
Theaters:
1. Act of Valor
2. 8.5/10
3. Acting is what you would expect from Marines, but the fact that the actors are active duty Marines and the plot is based off of real events made the movie feel so much closer to reality. Plus some of the scenes reminded me of playing Call of Duty.
RedBox...
Congrats FB. I hope you enjoy Las Ventanas. I agree that the motorcourts at Sevilla just dont work well. But the few in Sevilla who got those driveways and backyards...those appear to be comparable to LV.
I lived in TIC apartments before buying a house. I was able to sign a 3 month lease (paid an extra $100/month) thinking I would own shortly. When i didnt end up buying, i renewed to another 6 month lease.
After moving out I got about 2/3 of the deposit back. I would have gotten the whole thing...
I believe they said it was too high of a risk for them because the homes are closer to each other because of zero lot lines. They insure attached condos and SFRs. Probably because insuraance for attached condos covers anything paint inwards and SFRs are further apart.
Perhaps another reason to...
I also have a detached condo in Irvine. We went with Farmers because we have a family connection. We tried getting a quote from AAA because my auto insurance was with them. Surprisingly, they do not insure detached condos...
