This is Irvine. The only time the kids come out of their homes is to be driven to tutoring or piano lessons. I live next to a park and it's always empty, even on weekends. I don't even see kids walking to school, only a line of 300 cars lining up to drive their kid three blocks away.
I'm surprised you're not allowed to text at stop lights since they take an eternity to change. I wonder how they can tell you're texting or just looking down at things. I've discovered you can read and write entire novels waiting at the stop lights in Irvine. I wonder if that's illegal also.
a.) big trees are illegal in Irvine (or so it seems)
b.) if storm drain means house is at the end of the street and there is no next-door neighbor, that's a plus (unless the storm drain isn't maintained and backs up because you have strange neighbors dumping strange things down it)
c.) fire...

They're not careless. They just don't care. They're just self-centered. They know perfectly well what they're doing when they open the door their huge badly parked SUV and dent your car. It's your fault for getting in their way.
I'm not that familiar with Quail Hill and I was wondering what are the main differences in these properties. They all look the same to me. Does a view lot really demand a $100,000 premium...
One of these condos because I can't think of a better place to live than to be walking distance from the airport.

Second choice is University Park. Everything built after that village, with the exception of Woodbridge, has...
I'm happy that Irvine has finally decided to deviate from the standard bland chain restaurant, but all of these Asian places is getting to be a bit overkill.
I'm not saying that they don't have good jobs. I'm saying you don't find too many at the top of their profession. There are no people like Sergei Bren, Marc Zukerberg, Spencer Rascoff, Andrew Mason, etc. from my high school.
Not traumatic at all. Just not economical to stay in the location where they wanted to live. I'm talking about people with graduate degrees. I know a lot of people who couldn't justify staying in Southern California even with their low six figure income. Student loans add up. If you didn't...
What an astute observation! I graduated from an Irvine high school many moons ago. Even back then it was still one of the top ranked public high schools in California despite my AP classes only being 50% Asian. You would think by now my classmates would be political leaders, CEOs or have...
Too much sun near the beach. Preference is to buy tightly packed housing with zero yard to keep the sun out. Don't want to get brown and wrinkly like day-laborers.
What are they building off of Bonita Canyon Drive across from the Mariners Church? Is it part of the UCI campus or are those houses going to be for sale?
I agree with irvinehomeshopper that there is more crime in Irvine than people realize. About every six months or so we get a robbo call from the Irvine PD saying that there has been a rash of car break-ins in the neighborhood. Usually at night. Usually following a party filled with loud...
Another one. I'm glad they keep building more banks in Irvine. It keeps the police occupied and prevents them from getting too bored.

I have an account at Citibank but I never use it because I hate that the ATMs are inside the branch. For some reason I feel safer being exposed on the street than getting trapped inside with bank robbers. I also hate going to the 99 Ranch store that has the East West bank inside of it for the...
I remember when that Rite Aid was Damber Drugs and I got ice cream a few few doors down at McNulty's. Loved the mint-chip. Those were the days. And there was a liquor store there - Rolf's I think - that had the best pastrami sandwiches.
