    Irvine parking issue

My first thought after reading this was if you're sitting in your car for thirty minutes you can surely walk your kid to school and walk back home during that time.  Then I read that it was a TUSD school and was wondering if the same planners who came up with the District design were the ones...

    2012 - Money's list of America's best small cities

It says the average listing price is $904,753.  Really? and Test scores math (% above/below average) 36.6%.  Those sound pretty bad.

Low Income Housing - Positive, Negative, or Indifferent?

Instead of low incoming housing, executives making over $400,000/year should have their salaries halved and worker bees making under $50,000 should get a 100% salary increase.

Friday Boredom - Your Pet Peeves

Signaling to change lanes only to find the driver in the other lane speeding up and driving parallel with me so I'm stuck.  After having this happen three times I no longer signal.  I just cut in front of other drivers and hope I won't get rear ended.

    Inheritance and property taxes

I've heard about people inheriting old beach homes in Newport and only paying a couple of hundred dollars in property tax and was wondering how it worked or if it was just an urban myth.  If I'm reading this right, it looks like you get to keep the old rate if there's only one property and a $1...

and people think Irvine prices are insane....

    [IHB] Proclamation, Which Way?

Really?  So that means there is still hope for Irvine after all? One of the most depressing things about living in Irvine is driving by all of the parks and open spaces on a beautiful holiday or weekend and seeing no one enjoying all of that green space. Yeah, I know...  I'm a hypocrite for...

    New home lovers

I used to love CDM when it was small summer beach cottages but driving through there now I get claustrophobic with the giant houses taking up the tiny lots.  It's the same with new construction in Irvine.  The streets seem too narrow and the houses too close together.  I feel like you can't...

    New Home Pricing benchmarks

I love the view in that picture. But where are the bedroom windows with people peering down at you.  It doesn't quite feel like Irvine unless you glance up at wave at your nosy neighbor.

    Laguna Altura Rental

I was looking at the median rents on the ochousingnews website and was wondering if it's really cheaper to rent in Turtle Ridge than Walnut? http://ochousingnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/2012-06-OC_ratings-550x781.png

    7-year ARMs

Say you got one of those 7 year ARMs in 2005 and it was scheduled to reset in a couple months, would your payments be more or less than they were? I seem to remember back in the IHB days that the consensus was that housing was going to implode around now.  But I don't think anyone guesses that...

    Looking for view home

I was recently driving around Dana Point and saw a lot of streets that had great views, however there were quite a few vacant lots which made me wonder how stable the hills are.  If I were convinced there were no geologic issues I would like something like this...

Where should I buy in irvine with 2 million dollars?

Turtle Ridge has nice views, but it's kind of isolated and too close to the former dump.  I haven't seen a lot of the houses, but the ones I did seemed rather dark.  Didn't get enough daylight sun for some reason.  Shady Canyon seems too overpriced and I don't think the views in most of the less...

    Inheritance and property taxes

If you inherit a house and choose to keep it, do the property taxes stay the same or do they increase based on the current value of the house?

    Retail Openings and Closures

I never liked it that much (way too salty), but it was convenient and quick.  A lot of times I would go and say I'm never going back again, but then I would get an email and coupon and want to try one of their new dishes.

    Retail Openings and Closures

Pei Wei in the Oak Creek shopping center closed.  Since there already is a Chase Bank and a Citibank there, the only thing missing is a Bank of America or a Wells Fargo. http://fastfood.ocregister.com/2012/06/25/pei-wei-in-irvine-closes/157413/

[IHB] IRWD Water Rate Will Increase in July - Why?

I don't know about the rate increasing, but the total bill has been amazingly consistent for years despite years of drought.  I guess less water is being used when the washing machine, dishwasher, shower heads and faucets were replaced.

To Everything There Is A Season...

It's funny (or maybe not) when I read that thread I was thinking to myself the reason why 50% of the neighborhood wouldn't like the person might have been because he had a kid who scored in the lower percentile on a standardized test.  I never saw the video.
