Move along Tyler.  Move along.  Seems like you always want the last word in.  I'll let you have it if it makes you feel better.

Could be your friend's kids.  If you had a kid- would you plant an oleander in your home? Tyler- I am bored of this topic.  Move on.  To the original poster:  You have mentioned you have a small yard.  If you have limited space- try at least do what you want (privacy)- but also to make a...

I'm not a pet owner, but I wouldn't want to cause any harm and feel the guilt of killing someone's pet :P

Definitely don't buy oleander.  It's poisonous to dogs and cats as well.  Also, they can give hives or other skin reactions (and kids have especially sensitive skin) without the extreme of actually consuming the plant.

    What the bubble?!?

roads are twisty.  I wouldn't trust my kids in a crappy bus, but that's just me. Also, since the house is so far from the school, they'd be probably the first ones on the bus route.  I'd rather they get extra sleep at home than being on a bus.

    What the bubble?!?

I guess I didn't express myself well- the house is poorly located for school-aged children- regardless if "someone who lives in LB doesn't have to work"  Again- that's silly.  If you can live in LB and not have to work, you'd pick a better house than that.  That house is not convenient for the...

    What the bubble?!?

That's nonsense.  There's plenty of friends I know that live in Laguna Beach and work.  That house isn't even that great- it's just cheap.  That's a family house.

    Who does the "chores"?

because they're doing Kumon or practicing the piano!

    What the bubble?!?

It's a long drive up.  It doesn't seem like you have kids as you don't mention them in posts, but when you work and have to get the kids to school on time and get to work on time, having an easy way to get there makes all the difference in the world.

Or taking elementary school-aged kids to Top of the World Elementary.

You didn't mention where you want the tree.  If it's for your front yard, you'll need a tree most likely, but if it's for the backyard around your fence or at a corner of your yard, the Purple Hopseed bush is extremely fast growing (mine has grown to around 10 feet in less than 2 years and looks...

Why you shouldn't buy a home in Irvine

Persians are not Arab.  Those with the hejab (head covering) are mostly Arab.  You can tell by the way a woman wears her hejab whether they are Arab or Iranian.

    Common Core Standards

I saw my child's teacher the other day and asked about the testing for Algebra for qualified 7th graders.  His answer was a little conflicted, probably due to the uncertainty of it all.  Like one of the previous posters said, students will have to do a common core 7th grade and 8th grade...

    Common Core Standards

I totally agree with you on the Math and "explaining" how to go about solving the problem versus just calculating the problem and giving the correct answer.  My kids have already been having to "explain" their logic- and it's so silly and a waste of time.  If they know how to calculate it...

    Common Core Standards

I am wondering how Common Core might change the test the kids take in 6th grade to go into Algebra as a 7th grader.  The teacher alluded something of a change, but didn't go into depth.  I have to wait until conferences to see if there is a major change with this.  I hope not.

    Common Core Standards

Thank you for all the links. I can't believe they are not planning on doing STAR tests this coming year.  I feel for all the bright students out there that want to be GATE classified and have this opportunity taken away from them.  (I know they can do OLSAT- but maybe a parent isn't aware of...

    Common Core Standards

We had our Back-to-School night and the teachers talked a little about Common Core Standards, but not enough that I really understand the changes. Are there any teachers on the boards, and what is your opinion? Language Arts didn't seem to change that much, but I got the sense they are dumbing...
