Where to buy uncooked fish collars and bellies?

The Marukai market in CM did have yellowtail collar, I marinated them in soy sauce and put them on the BBQ for 15 minutes, delicious! I also bought the chilean sea bass filets they had, BBQ'd them too for fish tacos.

Anyone been watching the Towering Inferno at Marquee Place?

I thought the soundproofing was much better in high rise units than at typical apartments with concrete between floors as well as between units on the same floor and double pane windows.

Anyone been watching the Towering Inferno at Marquee Place?

Ugh hopefully the human underwear and poop don't share the same DNA and that's just pet doo doo. I remember reading from somewhere that the Marquee Park Place doesn't allow pets but the Plaza Irvine allows them. It seems difficult to have pets in high rises, they either poop on the balcony or...

    Yoshinoya Beef Bowl

I like the Yoshinoya Beef Bowl but never figured out what "thinly sliced" beef they used (or is similar to it) until I went into the Zion Korean market on Irvine Blvd and Yale and bought some sliced CAB (Certified Angus Beef) beef brisket with fat. Turns out the sliced beef brisket is perfect...

Where to buy uncooked fish collars and bellies?

Over the years I've settled on one all purpose seasoning that I put on BBQ meats that everyone says it's great, it's SusieQ's brand Santa Maria Style Seasoning, 805-937-2402, www.susieqbrand.com that believe it or not I originally got from Costco many years ago and now order from the website as...

Where to buy uncooked fish collars and bellies?

Fish collar update: The 99 Ranch on Jeffrey had salmon collars in shrinkwrap but unfortunately they were spoiled (smelled fishy when I opened them at home) but they also had chilean sea bass collars on ice which were really good when I put them on the BBQ.

    Hidden Canyon and Laguna Crossing

Anyone know what the highrise buildings are to the left of the 133 after passing Laguna Crossing/Hidden Canyon going towards Laguna Beach? It was a surprise to see a couple of highrises standing by themselves in that area of rolling hills.

Irvine: TOO MANY stuck up neighbors!!!

Skim, it's nice you're a considerate neighbor that parks your extra cars in front of your house, I'd rather have your HOA (and all other HOAS) crack down on people that park their extra cars in front of other neighbors houses. While I'm on the subject, maybe I qualify as a stuck up neighbor...

    junk bonds

I've been buying AAA rated California municipal bonds that have tax free yields around 4%. One nice thing about buying municipal bonds (or corporates or Treasuries or government agencies) is they are marginable in your portfolio, so you have the yield working for you, and at the same time you...

Where to buy (uncooked) prime rib?

The 130 degree might be perfect, that's far from well done IMHO. I slow roast mine until it hits 145 degrees, at that temp after 1 hour sitting, it's slightly pink and medium doneness and not dry at all. To me, any lower than 145 degrees and there's too much red liquid after cutting for my...

Where to buy (uncooked) prime rib?

I've always made rib roast in the oven but a couple months ago I even tried making rib roast on the Orchard Hills Apartment's BBQs (they clean the BBQs every night so you can grill without ever cleaning) for the first time. The difference is you can't set the temperature like in a conventional...

Where to buy uncooked fish collars and bellies?

I'm a big fan of the yellowtail collars and salmon collars at Japanese restaurants. Whole Foods in the District used to have smoked collars (but not uncooked) occasionally but they had a kind of unusual flavoring I didn't care for particularly. Where can I buy the fresh uncooked collars in the...

Where to buy (uncooked) prime rib?

For Thanksgiving I made prime rib that I bought from the Orchard Hills Pavilions on sale for only $5.99/lb. Regular price is around 9.99/lb I think. To me, it doesn't matter if it's choice or prime or select or whatever they call it, as long as it's the ribeye cut. It's the ribeye cut, you...

Alt-A resets might not rest higher?

Will this Economy affect your home purchase?

No, the pocketbook is closed for more house than we need...:) We've found over many years that we only use a few rooms (MBR, kitchen and home theater room) regularly and it's just more convenient to have them all on one level. I had never seen this type of floorplan until we saw new model...
