Why Do the Chinese Love Irvine?

How the heck would I know? They won't even look at me, never mind talk to me.
Look, I am Chinese and I moved from Middleton, WI to Irvine in 2018. I tried to talk to “local” Chinese on the first day moving in, got rejected and was told to stay away.

Were you asking where the money came from? 😅

“Zhang was coming out of one of the models with a Chinese couple pushing a toddler in a stroller and carrying an infant. As our CNBC camera crew interviewed Zhang, another group of potential buyers roaming the neighborhood models raised their brochures to hide their faces when they saw the camera.

While no one would say specifically why certain families were shying away from the media, some alluded to the fact that many of the buyers don’t want any questions about where the cash is coming from.”

Are you from the mother country? If you’re a Chinese American they don’t see you as them despite coming from the same ethnic background.

lol - I was trying to find which mailbox to open, you know, in Midwest your mailbox is just outside your driveway…

See, that’s the thing. We are the first gen immigrants, but thru school and work I have been in US for more than 15 years. And I had real hard time to fit into the Chinese community of Irvine since most of them are here just because they own a house or a business around. I think the gap is more or less because of the fact that I / we are working class but they are simply *not*.

No one wants to be gestopo'd by the ccp because they transferred more than $50,000/annum/person out of China.
