La Floresta: Camino by Standard Pacific Homes

$877K for Sorano can't be accurate, it must be for their model home.  If you go on Standard Pacific's site, you'll see most of the Move-In ready homes are in the low to mid 700s. Personally, I hated the layout at Sorano, so I purchased a plan 2 at Amber.  It looks like La Floresta's floorplans...

Opinions: best choice of hardwood flooring, granite color w/ white cabinets

I personally went with bianco romano granite and provenza african plains "black river" wood floors.  The wood is a cracked, hand scraped, distressed type of look, so I never really have to worry about the nuances that come with the smooth, high polished hardwood floors.  Have fun!

    Shutters

ps9 - I have 9 foot ceilings, but wouldn't 108 be too long since there are gaps from the top and bottom?  Most places sell 84", would that be too short?

    Tips on Furniture Delivery

depends on where you get them, a lot of companies have policies where the delivery guys can not receive tip.  macy's people just delivered, installed, and ran out the door, didn't even have a chance to give them a tip.  but 20 bucks a person is probably sufficient.

    Shutters

@qwerty - we decided on the same...  all shutters would be overwhelming.  we're going with a mix of shutters, combi shades, and curtains...  speaking of curtains anyone know where they sell ones?

    Tracts within a Community

Thanks for the input.  Yeah these are all SFR's, did not want to buy condo/townhouse due to lack of demand from older gen Asians (primary force driving So Cal real estate right now)... It's scary how fast prices have appreciated, I bought in APR-12 for 614,500, now the same plan is selling for...

    Tracts within a Community

Kind of a random question, hope someone out there can provide insight.  Is it better to live in the cheapest, most expensive, or median tract within a community... Currently there are 4 developed tracts in my community 1 - 1700-2k sq ft price is around mid-high 500's 2 - 2k - 2.2k sq ft price...

Why is Univ. HS so good?

lovinlife - I agree with you 100%, college was way easier than high school.  While I did not attend Uni High, I did go to a little school in Fullerton called Troy.  The IB/Troy Tech program was utterly insane, competing with National Merit Scholars/AP Scholars/Cal Tech kids/MIT kids was just too...

Counter Depth or Full Size Fridge

I bought a kitchenaid KFCS22EVMS counter-depth fridge, too poor for the built-in.  While I love the way it looks, you really can't fit much food in that fridge...  My fiance and I are going to buy another mini-fridge to put in big items such as kimchi jars, bean paste canisters, aka stinky stuff...

    Shutters

I had a family referral come over this past weekend to provide a quote on shutters.  Coincidentally some random guy was walking around the neighborhood trying to promote his shutter company.  He asked if I had time for a quote, and I happily obliged since it's always good to have multiple bids. ...

    Faux Wood Blinds

My uncle referred me to one of his friends who's the CEO of onyx shutters.  They have a showroom out in Pomona and told me his real wood shutters range from 14-18 per sq ft installed.  I'm going to try to meet him soon, so I'll give everyone an update. 2200 sq ft house here, with a ton of...

    Amber/Sorano at Blackstone

They're building more zubs...  Shea is going to begin construction on their ultra high-end Blackstone homes sometime next year I believe.  The land is being prepped and flattened, these homes will have awesome views.  I was talking to their sales office and the homes will be 4k+ sq ft and start...

    Any A/Vphiles out there?

True that Bones...  well the problem with BB's online sales is UMRP and the inability to allow other vendors to post their prices, unlike Amazon.  Speaking of Amazon, it seems like a lot of their prices in electronics are finally displaying UMRP prices, and there isn't as much flux in pricing...
