Except we don't know the long term effects of Covid, Rudy Gobert still can't smell:

https://www.si.com/nba/thunder/news/rudy-gobert-covid-19-donovan-mitchell-utah-jazz-oklahoma-city-thunder-nba

Quote
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert says he still hasn't fully recovered from COVID-19. Gobert tested positive for the virus back in March while the Jazz was in Oklahoma City.

Gobert tells L'Equipe, "The taste has returned, but the smell is still not 100%. I can smell the smells, but not from afar."..." I spoke to specialists, who told me that it could take up to a year."

Maybe if you live near the landfill this may be a benefit to you... but considering that it could also have long term effects on your lungs... I'm not going to purposely get Covid.

Keep in mind Rudy is an elite athlete and in good shape. (works out, has a trainer, eats healthy, good diet)

So just imagine if covid hits an average person.

NBA restart may not happen if Covid cases continue to rise...

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/adam-silver-covid-19-nba/kk4ekid28ex7129azzf1vhlaq

Florida is a hotspot and with at least 16 NBA players who tested positive... I'm not sure how this is going to turn out:

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29369877/16-302-nba-players-test-positive-coronavirus

these sports leagues are going about this all wrong. instead of trying to avoid covid, quarantine everyone for 14 days, etc., which will likely be impossible; they should just infect everyone with covid, wait 14 days for everyone to recover, then not have to worry about it for the rest of the season.

so why not do that for the entire country?

you're hired!

LOL!  What's the mortality rate for this virus?  If you look at all the US cases that are no longer active (i.e. the patient either recovered or died), the mortality rate is about 10%.  If you extrapolate that to the entire US population, this virus would kill about 32 million people.  Obviously, that's a worst case scenario since there may have been 4-5 times the number of cases that we just don't know about.  If we assume a 5x multiple on cases, then we're still looking at ~7 million deaths.

In reality, nobody will approve of that.  Conceptually, herd immunity is the best path to getting our country up and running properly again.
Thanks in advance for the 'thanks'!!

It has hit many average people. Many of them have not had any symptoms.

but think of all the good we would do for climate change? why can't we just accept the fact that thanos created coronavirus?

So why don't you want to catch Covid? Put your money where you mouth is and go out and catch it.

This is such a cop-out response... there are many diseases that have no/mild symptoms... but no one wants them.

1. Because covid is unknown. I am not ready to die like qwerty and others.
2. It is well known people who are not healthy and have under lying conditions do not do well with covid. Also, people who are super healthy catch it. Also, it is well documented about the after effects. Many people that recovered have a hard time breathing and other effects. Sorry I like my smell and taste sense.
3. I like to play it safe. Protection protection

No offense to anybody. Just saying

They need to adopt to the new environment. Fans won't be coming to see the game for awhile or our wonderful governor along with many other states' won't allow it.

I've mentioned about watching full 360 view of the game through TV, phone, or any digital devices. Better seats/views get to charge more expensive per per view sort of a thing. The technology is there. They just need to be willing to change.

Being in the the actual arena will be missed, but if they want to continue to play the games, they gotta do something like that. Maybe they already thought about it and the expected costs were not being met.

I heard players are not getting full pays either now. Too bad for those who bought $20M houses in Brentwood.

It’s not a cop out response. It’s a fact. Are you all about facts?

You and eyephone should work for yahoo. You guys take the worst possible scenario as a normal outcome.

I am putting my money where my mouth is. Today is day of kids at school. It’s great, life is back to normal.

And you keep on making this ridiculous statement that I should get covid if it’s no big deal. In general, my preference is not to get sick with any virus/disease. But if I do, then I do. If I die, I die.

Not going to overhaul my lifestyle. If you guys want your fear of covid to dictate the lifestyles of others then go for it, but don’t be surprised when then they tell you to f-off.

So wearing a mask and keeping social distance is an overhaul? Poor baby.

That's easier to do than wiping down all your groceries and take-out... at least you're not stuck at home.

So this is the contradiction in your "logic", your preference is not to get sick with any virus/disease... so why not practice safe protocols that prevents this from happening to everyone else? Or is it just your own health that matters?

Watching the scrimmages is weird but I’m glad it’s back. It’s strange how the injury reports include Covid-19 and quarantines.

The restart actually wasn't bad. I didn't see the Utah/NO game but the Battle of LA was pretty good. The "fake" audience sounds made it better than the scrimmages and the MS Teams Together video boards made it pretty cool too (esp during free throws).

Yeah, it was a good game especially in the 4th quarter. Looking forward to watching the playoffs on my new 77" LG OLED TV. :D
