Landlord will not renew their lease and intend to redevelop the lot. I do not know if this includes El torito next door.

Both El Torito locations are closed now (Irvine and Tustin)
El Torito hasn't really kept up with the times. There's just too much competition for good Mexican food now. On another thread, it was mentioned that Super Mex was shutting down locations as well. They have a similar style of food -- home style hacienda -- which I personally still like, but it's struggling against the trendier places now.

The areas surrounding SNA MacArthur, from the 405 to Bristol, have been rezoned for medium-density residential development at a rate of 30 units per acre. These properties will be available for sale. However, it's worth noting that podium and wrap-style designs often do not prove to be financially viable for for-sale homes.

Time to revisit - prices are good so hopefully quality will match.

You can go at lunch and sit at the bar area without reservation. Prime rib available on lunch menu.

The food is old school and asking for med rare might get you med. Make sure to tell the server that you want med rare on the red side.

I overheard the employees gossip about the land being owned by “the Mormons”. Not sure if this means landlord or church.

That are is probably going to end up like what they are doing at the Marketplace and just south more on the 405... apartments/condos with retail/work space.

I think they are constructing a pedestrian bridge over Jamboree next to Michelson... Las Vegas style!
