Do you have any locations in IRVINE (surrounding 20 miles), excluding beaches, amusement parks, museums, that are great for Wedding Pictures? Ones that are easily accessible that you have taken or been taken at. We already have a photographer.

Please send links to web pages with pics if you have them...

Thanks!

We did ours at Pitcher Park in Orange (Almond/Cambridge, near the Orange Circle). You can get some great pics in and around the Orange Circle.

As for Irvine proper, if you have a friend who lives in North Park, I always thought the parks there would be great for wedding pics. Same (maybe) for the Woodbridge lakes.

Congrats!!

Eva - Thanks again!

At what time of the day did you take the pics? We have a 5 hour span.

North Lake in woodbridge always has wedding parties on weekends taking pictures. Either along the water by the Waters restaurant or on the Gazebo.

turtle ridge clubhouse and the gardens in that area. great views from up there. you'd need to get through the gates but find a listing and say you're going to an open house.

Hmm... I think we did them around noon on a Saturday. It was overcast, so it worked out to do them then. We took most of our pics before the ceremony rather than between the ceremony and reception. Of course, we also had our ceremony and reception at the same place, so guests could not kill time by traveling from one place to another. It sounds like you have all your vendors, but if you need a kick@ss reasonably priced coordinator, PM me. This gal was great and kept the trains running on time.

Is this an engagement shoot? I prefer shots taken during the early evening, this time of year, there's a good 40 minute window where the light is warm and you can get shots with the sun setting the background. Beach shots are always great in this type of setting.

Yes, it's an engagement shoot so the pics will be shown during the reception.

Sorry that I didnt mention the time of year.

It's scheduled in late september and we can pick any time slot.

In september the window is 20-30 minutes, but there's plenty of other shots that can be taken. IMO, the engagement session should try to capture the two of you as couple, what do you like to do together, common interests or even competing interest, shots at each place. But, most people just seems to go where the photographer is most familiar with.

My sister did a beach shot down in Laguna.

She wore a white sundress, along with the blue of the water and surrounding rocks she looked awesome.

Photos looked like they were on location in Hawaii.

Something you may want to consider.

The courtyard at Bower museum, San Juan Capistrano Mission and other places where the architecture is timeless, classic and romantic. Arches and Loggia are some of the architcetural elements that would add layers of background interest without losing focus. The campus of Scripps College is beautiful with trees, shade and classic architecture soft enough as background and do not distract from the subject. Distant view and far away water are sometime lost in the photos due to the depth of field from the lense.

Come clean, bix... we know you were hot because the photos were taken here.

The unearthly blue glow would make an excellent backdrop for any self-respecting engineer.

I would agree with BK about taking engagement photos at a mission (maybe San Juan Capistrano being the local one here). We did ours at Mission Santa Barbara. (yes, we drove from Irvine to SB for this, and it was a hell of a drive back afterwards), but I have no doubt that San Juan Capistrano or other missions alike can do the same for you. Our photos came out looking timeless, the architecture blending in perfectly from shot to shot. It was not overwhelming nor was it distracting. The serene atmosphere was well reflected in our engagement shots.

Good responses here. THANKs!

How many clothing changes should be have? 2? 3? 4?

How many quality pictures would be have to have inorder to do a typical slide show? 80? 100? 120?

I'd imagine to get 100 quality pictures, there would have to be over 1000 pictures taken.

Which is very possible with 1.5 hr shooting, 1.5 hr dressing, 2 hour travel time...

those are questions for your photographer. the more shots the better from your stdpoint. from the photographer's stdpoint however, the engagement session is usually something they throw in to sweeten the deal for the actually wedding gig. they don't dedicate themselves for these shoots the same way they would for the wedding. i guess that depends on your photographer though. if he/she is willing to dedicate a full day's worth of time for shooting, wardrobe changes, and travel time and it doesnt cost you anything extra, take advantage of it! if your 5 hr window is what he'll dedicate regardless of how you use it, you may want to minimize the time you're losing for wardrobe and travel.
