United States vs. ?

This whole "Mini-Nuke" story is simply the "Iraq absolutely has WMD's" fable repurposed for today. Did Iraq have WMD's? Yes, but enough to threaten the US? No. Does Best Korea have nukes? Yes. Could they send them our way? They're getting better at killing fish in the Sea of Japan, but not much else.

If Best Korea wanted to raise havoc, all they'd have to do is air burst a nuke of any size high enough to fry our satellites. One week without Talk Irvine and things would start getting all "Shiny and Chrome" around here.

You have to kind of look at this in a long term strategic perspective for the U.S.  If North Korea completes the Nuke program (which they are very close to), U.S. hands are going to be  tied up and hand cuffed against threats in South east Asia (China influence) as well as Europe against the Russian influence.  The reason why China needs NK is to keep buffer against U.S. influence near their border and keep U.S. power in check so that China can expand their own empire.  Also, Iran and other rogue countries would be tempted to pursue nukes instead of giving them up.  They are currently watching how US vs. NK play unfolds.  Just think about Iran and NK having nukes.  One of the reason why U.S. became so wealthy and a super power was that we were able to expand our influence globally since winning WWII with US dollar becoming a global currency crown (from UK Sterling).

I think next step is to intercept their ICBM test missile and show that we are damn serious.  However, if we miss, we look like a fool so it's a gamble.  Let the fat boy squeak and get tough.  Softness against NK (for the past 20 years) ain't gonna work against this Switz educated genius.  Kim ain't crazy.  He is very calculative and doing a good job against a mammoth so U.S. should not give in.

Look what happened when we stayed out of WWII (before Pearl Harbor).

Before things get out of hand again........

OTOH... United States isn't even mentioned in end times events. Maybe we won't be around or we'll just be too weak to do anything.

$2 Trillion and 15 years.  That's what we've spent on war.  Mostly consummables.

One moon mission 10 years and about $200 Billion.  One Mars mission to put people on Mars?  Estimated at $100 Billion and 10 years.

Too bad we didn't develop some serious arms suppression capabilities with the $2,000 Billion and 15 years.

Instead we've  worked on a bigger club.

Yes we are. Who do you think Satan is? :)

Why did you have to ruin my sense of security? I went to sleep feeling safe knowing I would be spared from a nuclear attack because the USA isn't mentioned in the bible.

Looks like Trump got the upper hand in the latest Kim vs Trump rhetoric exchange.  Doing a great job against NK so far~ Using a Military whip against Kim and a Trade whip against Xi.

Lol. I love this president. It's so cute how he gets his national security briefings from Fox News.

Iran's supposed missile launch was fake, US officials say
EXCLUSIVE: Iranian state television released video footage Friday claiming to show the launch of a new type of medium-range ballistic missile, a few hours after it was displayed during a military parade in Tehran.

But it turns out Iran never fired a ballistic missile, sources say.

The video released by the Iranians was more than seven months old ? dating back to a failed launch in late January, which resulted in the missile exploding shortly after liftoff, according to two U.S. officials.

President Trump had originally responded to the reported launch in a late-Saturday tweet, saying, ?Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea. Not much of an agreement we have!?

This was after Trump, speaking before world leaders at the United Nations, called the Iran nuclear deal an ?embarrassment? to the United States.

?We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program,? he said.

Trump later told reporters he had made up his mind about the deal, but wouldn't say whether he would pull the United States out of the nuclear accord with Iran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, speaking at the U.N. one day after Trump, maintained his country?s missile program was ?solely defensive? in nature.

?We never threaten anyone, but we do not tolerate threats from anyone,? he said. Rouhani returned to Tehran two days later to preside over the missile parade featuring the new medium-range design and said his country would build as many missiles as necessary to defend itself.

Afterward, the footage was aired, with Iranian media claiming a successful test launch ? though it apparently showed the failed January launch.

China hands Trump a win on North Korea crisis

In a matter of a days, tensions with North Korea appear to have calmed down considerably.
Most of that is thanks to China making a series of positive moves and statements.
This is shaping up to be a big win for the Trump administration.

Like I keep telling everyone...its not Chess...it's Poker.

North Korea says it's willing to hold talks with US and halt nuclear pursuit while negotiations last: South Korea

?North Korea is willing to hold talks with the U.S. on denuclearization and will suspend nuclear tests while those talks are under way, South Korea said.
?The news comes after a delegation returned from the North where it met leader Kim Jong Un.
?North and South Korea will also hold their first summit in more than a decade next month at the border village of Panmunjom

Given how Best Korea played Clinton and others the last time around on denuclearization, it's reasonable to take Admiral Akbar's advice on this offer.

Trump Nobel Peace Prize nomination was fake, Nobel Institute suspects (According to the article)
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/382818002

LOL first time seeing this.  My comment was more of a knock at how much of a joke the Nobel Peace Prize is per Obama receiving it and dropping 20,000+ bombs on other countries.

Anyway, the hype is real:

If Trump succeeds where Obama failed on North Korea, maybe he will get Nobel Peace Prize ? and deserve it

This may yet all fall apart. But if this proves to be the beginning of the end of what was rapidly shaping up to be the most serious international security crisis of our times, then a tremendous amount of credit will be due Trump. Whether or not he always knew what he was doing, his instinct was clear: there will no more pussyfooting around Pyongyang. A dangerous strategy for sure, but one that just may be about to bear fruit.

Obama won the Peace Prize and subsequently got precisely nowhere resolving the North Korea conundrum. Suddenly, Trump getting it down the road doesn?t seem so implausible.

Trump agrees to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong Un by May, South Korea says

President Trump has said he is willing to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by May in an effort to see North Korea abandon its nuclear ambitions, South Korea?s national security adviser said Thursday night.

Chung Eui-yong made the announcement during a news conference outside the White House after meeting with Trump administration officials. Chung said the North Korean leader has expressed his "eagerness to meet with President Trump as soon as possible."

Chung led a South Korean delegation earlier in the week on a historic trip to Pyongyang. During the trip, the envoys became the first South Korean officials to meet with Kim since he took power in 2011.

On Tuesday, the South Korean envoys announced that Kim told them he is willing to begin negotiations with the United States on abandoning nuclear weapons and that he would suspend all nuclear and missile tests while engaged in talks.

The Trump administration and lawmakers greeted the offer cautiously, expressing both hope that talks can happen and skepticism at Kim?s sincerity.

Trump had touted the announcement Thursday night to reporters at the White House before it was delivered by the South Korean official, characterizing it as "major."

"It's almost beyond that," Trump told ABC News's Jonathan Karl when asked if the announcement was about negotiations. "Hopefully, you will give me credit."
