toxic land for Irvine's 5th high school debate

so what's the status of the current status for the location of 5th school? do parents/residents have the right to oppose to the site ?

Based on Test's post on April 29th (http://www.talkirvine.com/index.php/topic,1845.msg228694.html#msg228694), this site is pretty much a done deal.

Don't bother writing letters, it won't arrive in time to matter.

The IUSD Board of Education will meet tomorrow and have a final vote on approving the location of the 5th HS.

If you don't like the location this is your LAST chance to protest. Be sure to bring your pitch forks too  ;)

Irvine needs to think about the education for its current students within local villages first. The fifth HS needs to be off of Sand Canyon. Once developed then the district could consider the location offered by Five Pointe, which was selfish and a poor consideration towards students. Including the kids of Pavilion Park.

Seems like the location will work out for the new oncoming students at the great park.

The final location for HS#5 has been decided.http://www.ocregister.com/articles/site-615076-school-irvine.html

Now it is time to pick your school uniform: Green, Blue, or Orange.  :)

I've been saying that for years, Cypress Village East is the best location for the high school.

You have???

I agree with Test. CVE should be HS#5 and most likely will become the sixth. Think about an IUSD land swap where it currently houses its school buses.

Per the projections HS#5 will have 4,075 students by 2023 so they will definitely need another HS in the area.  They pushed HS#5 to the bad location so that HS#6 can have the good location.  Looks like they're saving the best for last.

Many folks were talking about moving the school off that site. IUSD Board didn't  listen, tho. Make sure, tomorrow you think who you vote for.

That was the plan all along.  Send the GP homes to the crappy HS #5 and build the better HS #6 for CV, CVE, WB, WBE, SG, SGE at CVE which are all TIC communities.

If it was true, #5 would be built close to the existing communities, not on the outskirts of the future construction. Obviously, site A for the school was meant to boost the price of the newly built houses in the crappy area.

HS #5 is not for the existing communities, it's for the future GP community.  Site A Site B is closer to existing TIC communities hence it may be used for HS #6 if CVE is not used.  Site A Site B is also too close to CVE so they would not build HS #5 right next to HS #6.
