purchase offer

If a written purchase offer is accepted by the seller, does that becoming legally binding or can a buyer still back out?

I think technically of the buyer wanted to force the sale the probably could but it's probably not worth it (court, legal fees, etc). I'm sure the seller would not agree to fix anything so as the buyer you would just have to deal with an upset seller. With that said, possession is like 90% of the law so good luck.

For resale homes, the buyer has a contingency period where they can cancel escrow for one of many reasons and get all of their deposit back.  The seller can not cancel escrow unless the buyer is not performing.
