Price increase in the last real estate cycle (1997)

This year the house price has increased 20-30% within 6 months after the real estate downturn from 2007-2012.  Have anyone remembered what had happened in the last real estate downturn, specially in 1997 or 1998?  Was the price increase at 20-30% pace within 6 months or a year?  Thanks you

Price increases were pretty gradual in the late 90s and then started to really accelerate in 2003/2004 through late 2006/ealry 2007 when the NINJA loans became readibly available.
