I love these and have been keeping my eye on these for a while yet I have no real insight. can anyone shed some light?

The Skyline on Main and MacArthur looks to be still vacant. anyone know why?

The Marque appears that every listing is an REO or Short Sale. Is it really is that bad of shape? Would buying there be a mistake?

The Plaza has a growing number is Short Sales. is it heading int he same direction of The Marque?

I would also imagine that the HOA's are in the pooper as well.

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

sugar

LOL why are they called North Korea Towers?

Skyline are my personal favs, since NOBODY EVER MOVED IN!

Let's see....

1 - Near 2 giant freeways....CHECK

2 - Nothing of interest in walking distance....CHECK

3 - Airplane landing path....CHECK

4 - Address in Santa Ana.....CHECK

Where do I sign up!

Whoever wrote the check for that 600 million dollar nightmare was an idiot.

And even if you were willing to overlook all those negatives, did you see the outrageous HOA Fees?!!

Use the search key, there's an entire thread on Skyline. I don't even think they ever built the pool. These also fascinate me as I drive past them twice a day. I guess the HOA's were supposed to be something like 1K a month. The sales office across the street has been closed for at least a year, but still remains. All of the billboards and pic's of the wonderful "highrise life" are still littering the street with the advertised price of "from the low 700's". The whole thing is just a big billboard for everything that went wrong in residential real estate in Orange County (as well as the country, I guess). I am waiting for them to bubble wrap the entire project. While the possibility of Skyline becoming rentals is interesting, I can't even begin to imagine the loss the company who paid pennies on the dollar for it would sustain trying to maintain a high maintenance building as a rental.

But is the *building* high maintenance? They didn't even build the pool. Ditch the fripperies like the concierge and I'd think the maintenance would be pretty ordinary. The place should be functional as an upper-end rental, albeit not at anything like what it was supposed to sell for.

How do you mothball a complex like Skyline? I mean, is there water in the pipes? Is the gas turned off?

Is somebody going around and checking for water leaks, pests, rodents, etc? After 2 years of being emtpy nature has a way of finding its way inside.

Just seems so creepy to think what it's like inside those towers on a dark night. (Now that would be some Halloween fun right there!)

I'm sure the govt will turn it into low income housing and subsidize all the fees so they will end up living a better lifestyle than most of us readers of this blog.
