First floor, white walls, darker hardwood or lighter hardwood?

My existing furniture was all pretty dark/dark brown so we went with a lighter floor.  That and with darker floors I wouldnt be able to see all the crawly bugs on the floor  :-[

What is the size of the space? And how is your lighting?

For larger spaces, dark flooring can work well to tie together areas.
Downsides:
-dark floors show every spot of dirt and dust. Be prepared to clean all the time.
-not enough light and your home becomes a cave.

For smaller spaces, lighter wood can help increase the perception of openness.

Nice. Looks much warmer than on their webpage.

Yah I decided on this after I saw it in person. The pictures on the website can be misleading.

What floor is that?

Provenza  Old World Fossil Stone

How much extra did you have to pay to have it laid out diagonally?  Looks great.

We only have to pay for extra 15% more material since doing the flooring diagonal waste more wood. and nothing extra in terms of labor to have it done diagonal.
