Earnest Money in new build home

Does the CA 17 day rule apply to new build homes?  If someone put down a deposit and wanted to back out, would they be entitled to a refund of deposit within the 17 days of signing the purchase contract?

Yes and the sales agent should have gone over that with you when you signed.

When I bought from William Lyon I had 3 days to cancel the contract. Later I could back out without losing my deposit if I couldn't secure financing but that was pretty much the only out.
