As long as it's not visible by your friendly neighborhood HOA enforcer... you should be good.

Yup. Make sure whatever you get meets guidelines (Orange top isn't HOA friendly) so if they do see it, you won't have to get rid of it or apply for a variance.
 
I was thinking about the portable big umbrella stand. I think at costco it's like $400. The color is light brown.
 
I think I'm going with the Alumawood spanish brown patio cover - lattice (pending HOA approval).  I've grown to like it almost moreso than solid wood.  Gonna get the large size beams with double beam header and footer and integrated recessed lighting inside the beams throughout the area.

Looks a bit modern but works well with my space.
