Costa Rica

So we purchased our tickets to Costa Rica. $277 round trip through American. One plus of the recession is the great discounts in travel. :) I got one hotel booked for 3 nights in Arenal so far. Also got a great deal on the hotel here. $241 per night incl tax in a suite w/ private outdoor Jacuzzi, buffet breakfast, 3 coarse dinner & wine, and two tours included.

Not sure where to head after that for our other 9 nights. I was thinking from Arenal we head to the Nicoya Peninsula then take a ferry over to the central pacific area where Manuel Antonio is. Anyone got any hotel suggestions in hotel suggestion in those other areas please do share.

Zovall do you remember where you hire the driver from?

Wow, that's super cheap. When is your trip? For that kind of price, I might just go for a week myself to relax on the beach if that consulting gig ends in September.

The BMW tracker is going to Costa Rica to lounge on the beach? Man, T you must just like the abuse. You can't go to Costa Rica to tan in your mankini. This is the perfect vacation for you since you like adventure. I'm going to come back here and flog you if I run into Perez tanning on the beach. ;-P

Well, in all seriousness, you should go. We leaving December 15th and staying for two weeks. If you end up going while we're there let me know and we'll do a white water rafting outing with you. December through April is the dry season and the most popular time to visit.

Funny thing about the airfare.. When we first started looking for tickets every search turned up having Taca International with the lowest price. However, the advertised price was wrong and we could never book the tickets with Taca. (We called Taca and they said it was a glitch but they still haven't fixed it) About week later we started seeing more and more airlines gravitating towards Taca's advertised price. This is when we booked American for $277. Taca's real price is closer to $1,000 R/T. I wonder if the other airlines even know this. They could be trying to compete with Taca's faulty price.

Our first destination is Arenal and we are staying at the Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens. I found the special we booked advertised on their website but it was for during their low season. I emailed the hotel and ask if they would honor it during our stay and they said yes.

We do plan on doing a day of sun bathing when we go to the Nicoya Peninsula. Playa Flamingo, I've heard, is one of Costa Rica's most beautiful white sand beaches. Beware, though, IHB paparazzi might be present.
