Just wait until San Onofre goes nuclear.  Socal will have the lowest property prices in the nation.

?It?s a sign of status. You can show off that you can afford to buy something overseas, it?s not something that everyone can do.?

?Most Chinese like to own a Mercedes? It doesn?t matter if its a good car or not, its just showing off their status. In the same light, owning a foreign house is just as prestigious in China, so they?re proud to tell their friends.?

When the news hits that Chinese are coming to buy realestate in the US, it's already been priced in..much like stocks.

Feels like the '80s, when Japan was doing the exact same thing...buying up properties and driving RE prices up in certain regions.  Didn't end well for Japan, but of course China has a different set of challenges.

There is one key difference here, the Chinese do not leverage themselves too high, in fact prefer all-cash transactions.

Chinese don't like paper trail for Uncle Sam or Chairman Mao to trace.

OMG!
SG is on their itinerary now?
I better grab IP brochures and start selling it to them.
Or take some group photo shots in front of the model homes for money.
Need extra money to do landscaping now.

China is notorious for environmental pollution. The bus load of the richest government officials in the world is trying to case study this success story of how to build $m neighborhood next to a dump.
