    Newport heights?

I heard quite a few people from Newport Coast are moving to Newport Heights.  Newport Heights is much more convenient to stores, restaurants, etc.  Other than that, I don't know why some families prefer Newport Heights.  The cost per sq/ft at NH can be more than non-view homes at NC.  Let me...

    Homeowners Insurance property damage claim

Has anyone had water damage in their home and filed a claim?  I'm wondering if the insurance company will pay for post-construction/remodel clean up?  Mainly dust, air ducts, window cleaning and somehow restore the hardwood to it's original condition.  I don't know what process is used to clean...

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

Yes, the home insurance is covering the claim, but for 1 pipe re-route only and damages/repair.  We will cover the cost for the repipe of the whole house.  1 pipe is @ $2K and whole house is $7K.  But we have a high deductible, so we will end up paying for a chunk, regardless.

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

The house is almost 20 years old.  Home warranty told us they will cover the individual pipe leak, but not the damages or water damage company. We used Procare Services (family owned, not a franchise like Serv Pro) for the water damage and mold remediation.  John, the owner is awesome, he's...

Wrigley, Did you have to vacate your home during this restoration process?

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

BTW, if I call Serv-Pro, can I ask them to place a containment sheet (or whatever it's called to close up the room with plastic), just in case there is black mold already within the dry mold?  So the spores and moldy air does not spread. Anyone used emergency water damage companies?  What is...

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

Good advice about not going with the attorney route first.  Our neighbor recommended plumber A.  Plumber A came to our home and was surprised to see a new owner.  He said that the previous owner called him in on such date because of a leak.  The date is during our escrow period.  The seller...

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

No I did know about the leak before we closed escrow.  Otherwise, we wouldn't have installed new wood floors and repainted the whole house.

    Soft-close slides for drawers

I'm not quite sure how the handyman jacked our drawers, but he seemed to jack-up everything else he fixed in our house.  LOL.  I don't think he installed the self-close slides properly.  He said that our drawers are too big for the space...he's just been giving us so much BS for all the mess...

    Slab leak

You are correct Zovall.  But our piping is mostly under the concrete and will be a lot of work to re-route, right?  So, as 80% of our neighbors have done, repiping is the best alternative.  Cute holes on the dry wall where plumbing is located, and install new piping and shutting off/capping...

Non-disclosure claims / real estate litigation

Anyone have experiences with non-disclosure claims or real estate litigation, due to sellers not disclosing leaks or mold in the home during escrow? Wanting to get some info on people's personal experiences.  History:  Pre-existing slab leak caused mold and damages to remodel (not major, but...

    Slab leak

Slab leak was not discovered during the inspection.  I called the inspector, and he said there is no way to test a slab leak. We were lucky to find the plumber who serviced this house during our escrow period.  The plumber told us that the sellers had a major leak and didn't want him to fix the...

    Slab leak

Has anyone ever had a slab leak and what did you do about it?  I heard home warranty does not cover it.  We've occupied the house for 1 day,  >:(. Neighbors with similar problems re-piped and others let the leak continue until a large enough damage can incur to gain >$ from insurance to...

    Soft-close slides for drawers

They do not close all the way, maybe 1/4 inch gap.  And it's really stiff to open.
